Why wasn't there anyone representing Somerset for the All Region Tournament Team?

What was the selection criteria, for the All-Tournament team? Perhaps since Somerset lost the first game, was part of the reason.

Rockcastle and Southwestern also lost their first game but had representatives on the 12th All Region Team.

Than that rules that theory out. Often before the tournament begins, the criteria and selection method will be discussed and approved by those involved.

 

Does anyone know what criteria, was used?

I just think it is pitiful and poor sportsmanship on the selection committee that they did not include a Somerset player.

Oh my I really don't want to get started again about the whole experience Somerset had in this tournament. It was quite obvious that night what was going on; this only proves it to the ones that tried to justify otherwise. It just leaves a bad taste is all I will say.

Yeah i just realized that they didnt have someone from Somerset on the team. That's not good at all.

Every team was told they would have at least one player on the team.

In the 7th region every team gets at least 1 player and their coach picks who they want on the team.

I was told by someone that attended the 12th region draw that the Tournament Team was selected by a committee appointed by the Boyle Co. coaches. So it is odd that they would not have selected someone for Somerset or Wayne Co. Coaches use to get to pick their player, but they must have changed it this year.

I heard that the selection committee chose a player from both Wayne and Somerset. Wayne Co. was the Boston boy and Somerset was the Fitzgerald boy. I know that we at Rock had Perkins on the team and we lost the 1st round and had ours. The commmittee is a good idea and I agree with jumpermom the officiating for the SHS-MERCER game was terrible and I coached the home plate umpire in little league and he absolutely had an awful ballgame. The Jumpers still had a chance to win it but botched a suicide squeeze.

The Danville paper did not list a Somerset player on the All Region Tournament Team and none of the Somerset players were notified that any of them were selected for the team. The player you mentioned is Fitzpatrick. He layed the first bunt down to score the run in to tie the game.

I think you mean Chris Fitzpatrick. The home plate umpire went beyond terrible. The 6th inning should have ended 6-4, Price was dead on in the umpire's strike zone that night, we know he had three strikes on the two that finally got hits. Our catcher knew it too, that's why he was thrown out of the game. (Mercer's boys threw bats from the very first play of the game). Then there was the so called balk that gave Mercer another run, Somerset kept trying to fight back, our boys never gave up that night. Like I have said, it was just a shame for everyone involved. It is a fact, someone will win, someone will lose-it's just unexcusable when it comes down to bad calls that make that decision in a Region baseball game.

I agree a committee is a good idea, but what is the criteria to be included on the committee. My guess is local media would be involved, but who else gets a vote.
