No doubt. Isn't there a rule about staying on topic. DA should have started a new thread about Bender. That way when people read the title they would snicker, say to themselves "That was the kid who thought he should go to the draft as a junior." and move on to the next thread.

 

In a nut shell:

Bender - talented, overhyped, athletic, egomaniac, jealous of Childs, Wilkinson, and Knight or would have had 2 more state tournament rings.

 

Vanhoose - talented, overhyped when he was young, hard working, not a great athlete (speed/vertical jump), great person, great high school career, great college career, now a good coach who helps kids learn life lessons through the game of basketball.

 

IMO - there is no comparison.

I just cant fathom how someone can repeatedly state the same thing and not listen to example after example of how he is wrong. It's beyond my realm of thought...

I think the only year that easily the most talented player was not chosen for Mr. Basketball was when Walt Allen won it. However, he was a vital cog to a championship caliber team. As was stated, character is a big part of being considered a good basketball player. Your bias for Bender is what is a joke.

Great point. It is useless to have talent if you don't have the character to use the talent.
