I dont know if I would want a guy called "Snake" to be in charge of anything. He may be the worst official I have ever saw as well. :flame:

Terrible idea to have anyone employed by ANY school system as the assigning secretary.

Surely, there is someone qualified outside the politics of the KY education system???

I feel the same way, I think it would be better to have someone outside the school system so they wouldn't have any ties with any school. The official experience I believe was a good thing they put in their, because how could you evaluate the talent you have as officials if you haven't ever done it yourself. I'm sure Oz had someone in mind when they came up with the pre-requisites, I guess we will find out in a couple weeks after the interviews and voting. Will probably be very close with one living on the lower end of the region and the other living on the upper end of the region. They may have to flip a coin!

Tommy Hall should have: Letcher, Jenkins, Knott, Cordia, Powell, Breathitt

 

Steve Poppas should have: JBS, Perry, Buchorn, Leslie, Hazard, Riverside, Owsley, Lee, Jackson City

 

Still have a lot of time to go in this thing before a decision is made, all could change in a heartbeat.

Once again politics get involved in high schools sports.

Steve Poppas is the most honest man I know. I think he would be the perfect man for the job. He just loves the kids and he is not about politics at all. He is probably the best referee to ever call a game in the 14th Region. When you vote for someone, vote for Poppas. :dancingpa

The vote is Wednesday this week, should be interesting! Anyone got any news about this situation! Anything could happen....

By a vote of 20-4, Tommy Hall is the new assigning secretary of the 14th region. He has been helping the former secretary the past 3 years anyways, so really there was not really a change. I thought it might get ugly in this election, and it did.

I agree that Steve Poppas is a great official and person, I was hoping that he would get this position. I guess the 14th will stay the same for the next few years.
