What is your favorite lure?

Featured Replies

Favorite for bass would be artificial lures bc I believe it makes it more challenging. I have several favorites among different categories of lures.

First of All, as wiremen said -- anytime, anywhere a small 1/16 up to 1/4 oz Rooster Tail in line spinner in wht. will catch anything with gills and swims ...

#1 all time would be the plastic worm. I think that is still the most effective way to catch bass. I normally used 6" but there are specific times for the larger 8-10" as well as the 4". There are as many colors as amount of rice krispies in a box but I stuck with basic Purple, Black, Green Pumpkin for the most part depending on water clolor, sunny or cloudy day. Before becoming completely disabled I fished the Ohio River a lot. A black/white 4" ringworm is hard to beat on the river, creeks and backwaters along with a 4" Zoom plastic lizard in black. Other "go to" river baits were an 1/8-1/4 oz spinnrbait and a shad color - silver/blk crankbait in 1/8-1/4 oz, and a "rattle trap" type shad bait in chrome\

A spinnerbait is another all time favorite bc of the versatility. I mostly liked a 1/4-3/8 oz single Colorado blade in white, Chart/White or Black. I also favored an 1/8 or 1/4 oz. tandem Colorado/willow leaf or twin willow leaf blades in the same colors as above.

For topwater .... a 1/4-3/8 oz. buzzbait (any color as long as it's black), a rapala - stick bait type in natural colors and or silver/blk back. Night fishing ...a Black Jitterbug....period.

Crank baits --- I was partial to Storm Wiggle Warts in crawdad colors, Rapala Shad Raps, Fat Raps and the DT series in shad or crawdad. Bill Norman and the Strike King KVD series are very good as well.

I guess to sum it up, I can't sum it up:lol2:. My favorites are whatever the fish want that day.

Bluegill .... very small 1/32-1/16 oz. beetle spin / Road Runber type baits along with live Crickets, Meal worms-red worms.

Crappie .... same as Bluegill, add a small tube jig or grub and Live Minnows ( or"Minners" where ii come from, ;))

Catfish .... Chicken Livers / Cut shad / Night Crawlers.

As anyone can now tell - don't get me talking about fishing, is my all time #1 Favorite Sport and/or pastime.
