After watching some good and some not so good summer ball here are my updated rankings:

 

1. Lincoln County

2. Casey County

3. Wayne County

4. Rockcastle County

5. Southwestern

 

Lincoln has looked really good this summer as has Casey. Saw Wayne play twice and they are gonna be solid. Noble had Rock playing well, as they have 10 players that can play. Monticello from the four games I have saw are not as good as I first thought. Southwestern won the AAU State tourney, but it was against teams that did not have all their players, but thats still good enough to get them in the top 5.

I don't know how you could say we have looked good and bad over the summer. I could have said the same about Southwestern. At least I did not get on here bragging about beating teams without their players.

I dont think that anybody has bragged about beating anyone. Southwestern has beat some good teams over the summer. They may have been missing key players I dont know. You need to relax a little and understand that summer ball is summer ball. Lincoln has a fine squad that will compete with anybody in the region. I know Lincoln was missing some girls last weekend at KBA but even with that said they did not look very good getting beat by NDA by 30 points.

Hopefully we will be at full strength when we play in the season. Lets see if your opinion changes then.

Lets hope that both teams stay at full strength all summer and all year. And who ever wins the 12th region in 2008/2009 will get my compliments. :scared:

From what I have seen this summer, regardless if teams were complete or not.

#1 Southwestern-best all around talent. I like Salyers and little Fothergill and Fowler.

#2 Lincoln-pretty close #2. Gotta love their big girl! Runs the floor ALL the time.

#3 Casey. Beat ya to death then pray with you after. Very nice team.

#4 Rockcastle-typical Rock team.

Teams that haven't impressed me....Somerset, Wayne, Mercer. This is not to say they are not good teams. Just didn't look good the days I saw them.

Look for Hayley Hellyer to turns heads for Boyle.

Wayne should have transfer Brittany Morrow from McCreary. She is good in the post, but blew her knee out last season. She stands about 6'3.

That spells problems for teams in the 12th. All Wayne was lacking last year was a big girl. They are gonna be tough now. If Saylers transfers like oldballcoach says she is gonna, and Morrow is at Wayne my top 5 would be now:

Rockcastle could be special IF D1 prospect sophomore Sara Hammond comes into her own AND if the offense can adjust to a more balanced scoring rather than 'loading the cannon' these last few years with Sara Rowe.

This past year they had a 17pt game from soph Jackie Alexander, a 24pt district final game from fresh Angie Lawrence and the big 31pt region final from Mary Saylor.

Hammond had 18 rebounds at Diddle, the fourth highest in tourney history, as a freshman. Lots of potential. Should be interesting as they make the adjustment. Coach Noble was the 2004 kabc state coach of the year and they have a great staff.

4 Casey might be a little slow.

My sleeper to do well next year is the highly athletic Danville.November sure seems a long way off!

 

Danville did lose Milby but they have a very talented soph in Mountjoy- she has tremendous potential and has worked very hard this summer. IMO they may be better w/o Milby who would never give the ball up.

Don't look for Waters to be back on the McCreary bench after this coming season unless he does something spectacular. I think the administration at McCreary may finally be serious about becoming better in sports. Additionally, I think the are upset with the direction Waters has the team heading.

I have heard that as well. I have also heard that this next year there might be a house cleaning of both basketball coaches if things dont turn around.

Wayne lost Duncan and Bristow to graduation. Morrow was never a factor at Mccreary Central plus missing a year to injury is never easy to recover from. Wayne will not be as good as last year. Southwestern will miss Salyers but they still have both Fothergills and Fowler.

Wayne will be better than last year. Saylers needs to stay around so they wont have any excuses.
