Who will be the tops next year? I say:

This is my top 5. Now I'm sure that some teams are going to be better than expected but this is my top 5 as of now.

1. Lincoln County--- Return 4 starters and good bench should be the best.

2. Southwestern---- Return 4 starters which accounted for 90% of there offense.

3. Casey County-----Return 3 starters

4. Rockcastle--------Return everyone but Rowe but they will miss her alot.

5. Monticellio-------- Will shock alot of people and make it to the region.

Rockcastle (Only loses Sarah Rowe, and many of their players from this team were Sophomores or YOUNGER)

I dont think Monticello will be that good next year oldballcoach, nor Southwestern. Monticello plays to weak of a schedule and Southwestern always folds tournament time.

How does Southwestern fold at tournament time? The were Regions runner-up in the 2006-2007 season. And in the past three years they have been in the district finals with none other than Wayne County. And chances are they will be in the finals again next year and maybe in the region finals as well. I'll agree with oldballcoach Monticello is going to make some upsets.

The only quality run Southwestern has ever made was two years ago in the region. Anyone can win a district 69 or be runner up. Look at this years region when you lost to Mercer County. Do I need to say anything else?

I'll agree that they gave the game away to Mercer County. It was that they just couldn't handle the ball way too many turnovers. I could be wrong here but I think Southwestern has been Region runner up once before I'll have to check into that.

Thats my point, turnover after turnover. Rice did not have them mentally prepared. Who will be your guys coach after this coming year? Rice is leaving after this year right? Im glad we dont have to worry about Coach Story leaving Lincoln anytime soon. He is a class act.

There's no speculation that Rice is leaving Southwestern after next season. But if he does then my next guess would be his assistant Jackie Taylor. She's an excellent person and a very good coach. I think that Rice had the ladies prepared but when they got the 14 point lead they thought that they had the game in the bag and obviously that wasn't the case, they just got careless with the ball. Devin Fothergill's technical foul didn't help any either.

Rockcastle could be special IF D1 prospect sophomore Sara Hammond comes into her own AND if the offense can adjust to a more balanced scoring rather than 'loading the cannon' these last few years with Sara Rowe.

This past year they had a 17pt game from soph Jackie Alexander, a 24pt district final game from fresh Angie Lawrence and the big 31pt region final from Mary Saylor.

Hammond had 18 rebounds at Diddle, the fourth highest in tourney history, as a freshman. Lots of potential. Should be interesting as they make the adjustment. Coach Noble was the 2004 kabc state coach of the year and they have a great staff.

4 Casey might be a little slow.

My sleeper to do well next year is the highly athletic Danville.

November sure seems a long way off!

I underlined the underclassmen stats you mentioned. Angie Lawrence, Mary Saylor, Jackie Alexander, Sarah Hammond and Katie Mattingly will ALL be back next season. All of these except Saylor and Mattingly have 2 or more years left! :eek:

While Rockcastle does return some players they will not be able to replace Rowe with anyone they have coming back.

 

Danville loses Milby, I dont have to say anymore than that.

 

Casey is some slow, but a quality team.

 

Wayne is always in the mix.

 

Southwestern will continue to struggle in post season play. If they dont do anything this coming year, you wont hear about them for awhile. They lose it all after this year, including a coach.

 

Monticello never plays up to their potential, or have not since Abbott left there for greener pastures at Clinton.

 

Lincoln will be the cream next year. Write it down.

Mercer County will have a strong player in Danyelle Honaker coming back to fill an inside presence. She also has been devolping a nice perimeter game. With the help of teammate Abra Sickles Mercer County might suprise some people.

I keep hearing that the rankings are gonna change alot between now and when the season starts.

 

Somerset will have the Wayne County transfer eligible this year. I think she was a starter for Wayne for a year or so, so that should offset losing Jones( I think maybe she was better than Jones anyway).

 

If you read this forum closely, its also rumored that Tim Rice is a leading contender for the Pike Central job. If so then what does that do to the chemistry of Southwestern?

 

Wayne lost two seniors that started. What or who will they start?

 

Monticello returns a solid group and should be much better this year.

 

Boyle should be better this year after a season under their belt.

 

Rockcastle lost Rowe but returns Saylor and Hammonds, so they will contend. Have also heard that the chemistry there is not good, though.

 

Lincoln returns most of their group so as of now I have them solidly as the favorite.

 

Mercer I also hear is having admin problems, so look for Souders to maybe look elsewhere for a job, which would hurt them.

 

Summer ball is soon approaching and I am excited.
