Well what about when a player from Russell ,pushed a Raceland player down twice and went uncalled

That was your interpretation and opinion. From where I was watching, there were a couple of shots taken right before this, while scurrying for a loose ball!! Either way though, retaliation isn't necessary, but often a part of the game. It would be hard not to do something back to someone who was throwing bows in a pile.

If you are talking about these teams, its over until next year IMO, can't see both making the finals.

 

That comment did lack clarity, Big Slick...thank you....actually, I wasnt thinking of a rematch at all (until next season that is)... but simply that there is still basketball ahead for both teams in regional play...

Basketball is a physical sport. If the refs call everything, people cry, "let the players determine the game". If the refs don't call everything, people cry, "it's to rough". It is rough and not for everyone, if someone doesn't like it, then don't play.

 

Of course, I guess some people will cry no matter what.

First I would like to say congats to Coach Trimble and his staff for a job well done. To the Lady Rams, that was the best ball game I have seen this year, you played with great determination and as always a lot of class. You girls had some big shoes to fill this year and those shoes might have been a little loose in the beginning but now you are filling them nicely on and off the court. To the Lady Rams that have moved on in the last few years I want to say thank you, you girls are the rock that this program is building on. With the coaching staff that is in place and the great participation in the youth leagues, Raceland will be a powerhouse in the 63rd for years to come. LADY RAMS 63RD DISTRICT CHAMPS!!!!!!

The Lady Rams are all class. Last night I was so proud of their efforts on the court, they showed great determination and perservance throughout the season. However the most moving part of last nights championship probably went unnoticed by many. Raceland junior Jesse Clark took Greenup Co.'s Ashley Grizzle a card signed by the Raceland team and hugged her during the all-district celebration. They took time to recognize this young lady who played so well this week through the loss of her sister. The girls really are all heart on and off the court. This is why Raceland is so special and these young ladies have been able to achieve so much. Great job parents, teachers, and coaches!

Great post again here Blazer and thank you for posting this. Raceland people know how great these kids are and it is a reflection of their parents and coaches as well as the kid themselves.

Congratulations Raceland on a manificent TEAM win against Russell. At times, it looked like there were 6 players out there against 5...very solid defense ladies!! The intensity level and focus of this team was consistent throughout all four quarters...remember that when you play your next game. Best of luck in the regionals....this aint over yet!

I personally am not slamming or trashing any ONE kid at all.

Raceland and Russell have a very competitive rivalry in all sports. When it comes to the game/competetion itself they just flat don't like each other :lol:, has been for years and years and I don't think that it will be changing anytime soon or probably more accurate.....Ever. Let alone when it is for a District title there are going to be some emotions from both sides, no one is exempt from it at all.

A lot of these same kids know each other off the court as well (some cases they are related..cousins or whatever). They like one another but during the game all bets are off. Both play hard and when teams are playing hard there are going to be incidents arise in the heat of competiton. This goes both ways and no one team is more guilty or innocent than the other.

Actually the player you are talking about threw the ball down towards the player she had just knocked down. Typical of this player and not a surprise.

I said it's all good though, meaning no hard feelings, it was just a bit much. In fact, I would love to see some of our team get some of that fight and attitude. Lady Rams are all class??? Are we talking about the program in general?or just the players? After watching the halftime activity from coaches on both teams staff in the first round, and hearing what that was about, you can't tell me that the Lady rams are class.

I understand emotions get the best of players sometimes and I have no problem with it. But why did the officials not call the T.

Aquatic, what waterworld have you been living in? Anyone remotely associated with Coach Kidwell and Coach Trimble, and their staffs, know they are truly class acts!

 

And Mr. Wrong, the refs didn't call a T possibly for the same reason they didn't call an intentional foul earlier in the game when a player SHOVED another player. I agree, the officials should control the games more. When anything goes, hard feelings and bad habits develop.

 

But it's rather amusing to hear adults criticize kids for their lack of control and anger management issues...In grown-up pick-up games I've played in over the years, I have witnessed some very aggressive adults taking cheap shots during the games... and we weren't even playing for a district title!

First of all, welcome to BGP annabel. :thumb::laugh: I know that I combined a couple of differrent lines from your post annabel but imo this really sums it up.

I don't like to see any high school kid from any school talked about in negative way. Especially in public.

I am sure that the young ladies on the Russell Lady Devils are very good kids, I have heard nothing other than that and I know that the ones on the Raceland team are great kids and are class as well. Both of these teams have very good kids that are hard, tough competitors.

Of course there are going to be little "incidents" from time to time in a game. My opinon is that the kids get over a suppossedly "hard foul", "shoving exchange" and get on with it and forget it LONG before some parents and adults do.

Some parents/fans and adults could learn something from this.

JMO and I a certainly not talking about any one person. kid or parent anywhere. I have seen this pretty much everywhere through the years.

 

I beleive if we would let the Kids play the game, the coaches coach the kids and the officials call the game then there would be far less problems. Should a parent or adult have a problem with how things are done then go talk to the ones that are in a position to know and give an answer to whatever is the problem or question.

Support the kids......Absolutely Yes!.

Live your past years and what you did or did not do through the kids and try to tell the Coaches, School administration, referees their job......No!
