Hazard is not dodging Harlan County. Hazard has open dates for week 6 and 7. Harlan County week 1 and 11. Hazard is having a hard time finding a 10th game. They are in the process of talking with teams from Va. and Tn. in hopes of filling that open date.

I'm not saying that Hazard is dodging anybody. The game was set for Hazard to play Harlan County in week 1, and all that needed to be done is Hazard signing the contract. Since the hiring of Larkey, Harlan County officials could not get a response back from Hazard. Then a couple of days ago they finally responded back and said that they didn't know what Harlan County was wanting to do the 1st week (which they did) so they decided to look else were. Again, I'm not saying that the hiring of Larkey did or didn't have anything to do with that, but it does seem a little odd.

With all due respect to Coach Larkey and Harlan County, Hazard isn't avoiding anybody. I believe the discussions concerned week 1. Hazard got a better deal to play Green County at Lexington Catholic. Hazard still has two open dates and one game to fill. I'm sure Coach Dixon would like the opportunity to fill the schedule.

I just do not understand why Hazard wants to play in Lexington. They had a game and it was just across Pine Mountain.

More money and the chance to play on TV perhaps?

I thought that Bell Co. was willling to play around week 6. Maybe instead of making a trip across Pine Mountain, they could make a shorter trip to Log Mountain.

I think Harlan County has a open date for week #6.

Just let me say that Green County would have honored to have had the opportunity to

play Hazard or Harlan County the first game. It is my understanding that Green had

a home bowl in which Evarts played in last year but when the new Harlan County was

offered they would only play Caverna, but the coaching staff at Caverna did not feel that the had the numbers to compete with a school that would dress 100 players When

Harlan decided to look elsewhere Green was left without a team and Green was invited to

Lexington to play the outstanding Hazard team. However the rumor was that Harlan would play Lexington Catholic. This would have been great for High School Football.

That is not true mtn mafi. Bell Co. might be playing Harlan Independent, but HC was never scheduled to play Bell in the grid.

I thought Hazard and Breathitt were working on a game for 2008 season.

There was some talk of a Hazard - Breathitt game, but not likely to happen this year.
