February 11, 200818 yr Kanye was extremely obnoxious during his speeches. What can you expect from a rapper from the suburbs who's logo is a teddy bear? Some streetbred humility?
February 11, 200818 yr Kanye was extremely obnoxious during his speeches. Yeah he was and that's what made Vince Gill's little shot at him even funnier. But Kanye handled well which impressed me because I could see him getting mad over something like that.
February 11, 200818 yr Author I'm a huge CCR fan but Fogerty should have given up trying to sing years ago.:creepy:

That surprised me as well because Kanye is definitely in the top 3 biggest cry babies in the music business.

February 11, 200818 yr Kanye and Winehouse both picked up 4 Grammy's I heard, both of whom I find unbearable to listen to and look at. We ususally do disagree on our taste in music I don't know why it surprises me that we do on this too. I think both these artists bring something different to the table that ventures outside what people are used to hearing in their respective genres. Even if you don't enjoy their particular type of music you have to respect them for that.
February 11, 200818 yr What did Gill say? Ringo Starr gave Vince Gill his grammy so he's like "I just got handed this award by a Beatle. I bet you've never done that Kanye."
February 11, 200818 yr What did Gill say? Ringo presented the Grammy to Gill and he said something along the lines of "I just got an award from a Beatle...has that happened to you Kanye?"

I can respect Winehouse more for that then I can Kanye, I don't see what he brings that is different (other then you run-of-the-mill political activism) but as you know I'm no rap expert.

His personal opinions on politics aside (God knows I disagree with him there), his sound is completely different from anything that has managed to get popular in a long time. I know judging music by mass popularity and radio play isn't the best way to do it because there are very talented artists who nobody's heard of. That being said Kanye West finally gives an alternative to the traditional "gangsta" rap that fills up the radio airwaves, which like it or not is still the most common way people get their music.
February 11, 200818 yr Hancock pulls the upset for Album of the year... If I stopped 100 people on the street of any city today, I'm not sure if any of them would say they know of this album. Just goes to show that its not a popularity contest.
