Harlan County Basketball

Featured Replies

I think Corbin should be No. 1. Knox Central and South Laurel would probably come next. I think you could make a case for Harlan County next, or perhaps behind Clay and Middlesboro.

North loses three starters and a couple of subs. Middlesboro and Clay each lose two starters. Whitley is getting better, but they still have a ways to go. Bell is solid but not spectacular.

13th region next season

1. Corbin

2. South

3. Clay

4. Knox

5. M'boro

6. Whitley Co.

7. North

8. Harlan Co.

9. Pineville

10.Bell Co.

This is not to say that Harlan County will not move up as next season moves along.

I posted all the returning starters on another thread. There are at least 10 who started at some point. Harlan County could be ranked anywhere from 3 to 8 in the region.

The top nine teams, in no particular order, will probably be Corbin, South Laurel, Whitley County, Clay County, North Laurel, Knox Central, Harlan County, Bell County and Middlesboro. You could also make a case for Pineville and Barbourville.

PG - Tyrek Simmons, Mikey Hamlin

W - Kyle Hogue, T.J. Green and Paul David Creech

F - Brandon McCoun or Blake Polson

C - Josh Caldwell, Bruce Short

This team does not look as talented as the C'land team this year. How could they be ranked in the top 3, with many teams returning nearly everybody? Corbin, Clay, Knox, North, Bell and M'boro, just off the top of my head.

North loses Shannon, Dalton, Tiller and Cottongim

Clay loses Hobbs and Smith

Knox Central loses Williamson, Scalf and Mills

You could certainly rank Middlesboro and Bell ahead of them, but I like Harlan County's returning group as good as either of them. Middlesboro has Brown, Smith and Green, and Bell has Zachery, Wilson and Mays. Harlan County is deeper than both teams

:thumb: Harlan County will have to develop a guard that can take over a game.
