Holy Cross 51 Walton Verona 44

Featured Replies

Were the starting guards culpable in giving up the 11 pt lead?

BTW, welcome to the site.

The starting guards were sitting at the start of the second half. And yes, Walton was up during the 2nd period, but that's where C-town stated above, a lot of early subbing went on, and got the girls out of their "flow".

Oldtime is correct that Holy Cross made their run, but the all the starters weren't in at that time. Early subbing went on and then when the starting guards weren't placed back in the second half, is where the game was lost.

Thanks, I don't if it was a guard problem or just a

team problem. WV has given up leads of 10 or

more points multiple times this year

What you mean by team problem? Didn't you see the Holy Cross guards take the ball away from our guards multiple times, which lead to easy lay-ups by #10 and #12? I keep track of what happens throughout each game for WV, and guard play was a problem. Hargett and Dixon held their paint area well, and rebounded the ball much better than the last few games. I saw much better inside play from Hargett and Dixon in this game, than recent games.

I seen #12 for HC guard Hargett and take her out

of her game. I seen #22 dominate Dixon, blocked

shots, score, and rebound. Dixon foul trouble

again. I watch every game. The old saying:

I agree. If the Older girls can't get it done then sure sit them. But the "older girls" you speak of, were winning and had "Holy Cross on the Ropes" like C-town stated above. And when the younger girls came in, they had an off night (Everyone has off Nights). It is that simple. The starters came out hot, and were up big on the Indians, and once there were early sub's the girls lost their momentum and the Indians came back. When WV went into the locker room, they still had a slight lead. When the line up changed, Walton went down ten. Did you miss that? Look at C-Town's post above, early sub's hurt Walton.

Maybe you need to watch the game film

Maybe you need to watch the game film

Then you need to tell Madman to watch it, and C-town, because so far in their post above, they saw the same thing I did? Didn't you read their post above?

Anyways, still confused on your take of the game? Give me your view of the game? I have given good details where Walton was up and went down, I want to hear your view?

Maybe you need to watch the game film

Sometime? Sometime what? Watch game film? Well, Maybe I will. Maybe we can watch it together.:sssh: But in all seriousness, what is your run down of the game?

Like I said above, impressed with Holy Cross'es play, and fighting back to go home with a win. Good 8th Region vs. 9th Region game.

I don't need to watch the game film. I saw it for myself. The whole complexion of the game changed in the 3rd quarter when the younger girls weren't able to handle the Holy Cross pressure. There's a time to play the younger girls but that sure wasn't it. In games like this when the team is winning at the half, don't ditch what got you there and go to the inexperienced guards. Again, I must say, that I'm sure there was a reason for the coach's decision but I don't know what it was. If she started off the second half with the starters and they don't produce, then go with a different line-up. If it's not broken then don't fix it and since Walton was up at halftime, I don't think it was broken. I would also question your assessment of Dixon being dominated by #22. If she had been dominated, she wouldn't have scored 11 points (2nd leading scorer) and had several rebounds. She wasn't in foul trouble (didn't foul out) and played most of the game. I'm really not sure what game you were watching but it wasn't the same one I was. Again, there's no need to watch the game film. I agree with your quote about if the seniors can't win then go young for the future but last night the seniors were winning and there was no need to go young. It cost them the game!

Thanks for the back-up Madman. :jump:

Here Here!!!! A lot of the losses have been blamed on the Seniors. But I suggest to you it starts at the top!!! And the top has not proven to be worthy!!!

What don't you understand! That's exactly what I'm saying.

I understand and agree with you 100%. Just backing your statement. I know it seems odd but we actually agree on this one.
