Paris’ junior guard Talaken Myers hit a three point basket with 2.1 left in the second overtime to give Paris the big win over the No.1 ranked team in Class AA in the State of Pennsylvania. Villa Maria was also ranked 8th overall in the state. :eek:

 

This game was played in the Chrysler on Nicholasville Kentucky Challenge at Lexington Catholic.

 

This was a close game throughout the evening with both teams coming up with big defensive stops and big offensive baskets, like the three-point shot that Paris’ Nakita Jones hit to send it into the second overtime.

 

Paris led 10-4 after one quarter and 14-12 at the half. After three the Ladyhounds led 22-20 but the Victors tied the contest at the end of regulation 29-29. After the first overtime the score was tied at 35-35 before Myers hit her big bucket in the second OT for Paris.

 

This was a big win for the Ladyhounds heading into this week’s All “A” Classic State Tournament. The name of the game for Paris is defense, and they play it well!

 

 

Nakita Jones led Paris with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Emily Hinkson had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Janette Pacas and Sasha Davis scored 8 points each, while Lauren Forsythe finished with 3 points, 8 rebounds and a block shot and Myers had 3.

 

For those of you in the Paris area the game will be replayed on 90.7FM tonight starting at 9 or 9:30!:thumb:

What a big basket for Myers.. looks to be her only field goal of the game. Never thought of her as a three point shooter let alone in a clutch situation like this. Congrats to Paris, good win to send them into class A state tournament!

Wow... sounds like Paris is playing real tough right now. That has to be a confidence builder heading into the All "A" state tournament. Sounds like they're gonna be a tough team to beat...they are on quite some hot streak.

Paris is a very, very good defensive team. Coach Brooks likes the half-court because it works for him and his Ladyhounds. Good Luck in the All A Classic.

To correct you, it wasn't much offense for Villa Maria. It was plenty of offense for Paris. They aren't going to score a lot of points. Their game plan is to shut the other opponent down and that is what they usually do. Coach Brooks's kids know that if they don't play defense, they don't play at all. If you need proof of that, then look at the Top 5 defensive team rankings in the state and you will see Paris in that group. Paris has been a great defensive team ever since Brooks took over in 2004. Big win for Paris going into the All A State Tournament.
