All I can say is WOW!!!!!

 

I thought it would be a close game but Corbin would come away with the win especially at Corbin. Knute Rockne always said "I play my best 11, not my 11 best!!!" Sometimes on a team as talanted as Corbin it is tought for even the best coach to identify the best 5 out of all that talant. Sometimes talant can be out-weighed by teamwork, and that is the toughest thing to get no matter how much talant you have.

 

With that being said there is no doubt Corbin will recover nicely and still more than likely be there at or near the end of the region tourny.

 

Not much teamwork or effort tonight from the Hounds..............hard to understand, but plenty of games left to iron the wrinkles out.

 

Does anyone have any FG% or FT stats? Corbin could not have shot much over 25% from the field and I can only recall them hitting 1 out of 3 FT's in the game.

South Laurel just played harder, smarter and were much more physical than Corbin tonight. The Watkins kid for South was the best player on the floor ...........don't know where he came from, but he can play.

 

Played at SL in 9th and 8th, but before that he was at Clay Co. Pretty darned good player, tho. Good basketball sense.

He made a steal and then went in and dunked it while getting fouled.........and he can't be more than 5'9" or 5'10". His pull up jumper off of the dribble was also deadly last night. I wonder if he is any kin to Russ Chadwell who played for Clay Co. back in the day as he kind of reminded me of him, hard to believe the Tigers let him get away.

Wow!! Everybody had SL ranked from 5-10 in the region. Sounds like they are a lot better than that!!! Somebody tell us more about the Watkins kid??

How many points did he have? Is he a sophomore?? I don't remember him from any past SL State Tourney games?? Probably didn't play much as a freshman with all the talent they've had the last few years.

Corbin simply was not ready to play in this one. With the return of Crawford, they also appeared to have no team chemistry at all. They took one bad shot after another, and turned the ball over time and time again.

 

I know it's early, but Corbin is not as good of a team with Crawford back as before he returned. The Johnson kid from Corbin looked like he was on a different planet last night as well. Does Corbin have enough shots to go around? I guess we'll see in a month or so.

 

IMO, the play of SL's Matt Watkins makes them a much better team than earlier in the season. SL looks much more quick and athletic now, than they did earlier. They do look a little shakier taking care of the ball against pressure, but I think overall they are better. As for now, I think they are the best in the 13th.

Aliens invaded the bodies of our Corbin boys last night and snatched every bit of their basketball sense. That is the only way I can explain what happened because, quite frankly, I can't figure it out otherwise. It is not unusual for one player to have a bad game on any given night but for the entire team to have a bad game all on the same night is extremely unusual. I just hope they get it together before Thursday and Friday. We are a much better team than we showed last night. The Cardinals had fire in their bellies and they played for broke. Congratulations to them on a great game.

Watkins had 21 points and is a one of the better shooters in the region.

Where is Bubba Wilson at? I wonder if he was at this game or the Lynn Camp/Barbourville game?

Corbin will be fine and I still see the Redhounds winning the region. As for the ratings, it's funny I'm typing those up right now.

South isn't No. 1, but neither is Corbin, or Cumberland.

St. John only scored 2 points and didn't play a lot and Matt Gilbert didn't play either.

I think that Jackson, Knox or Pineville is deserving.

It is one of those schools, BUT the other two teams dropped a spot because of the South win. Remember, I had South rated seventh last week.

I think the great thing about this season is that the regional tourny will be one of the best in a while. Rankings will probably change 3 or more times before it is over. I think you do a good job with your rankings.
