buttels Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Bellevue tried to slow down the game, but the Wildcats outrebounded the Tigers and took the 19 point win. David Darnell led all scorers with 24 points. Austin Kessan led Bellevue with 15.
That's Pat Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 The Wildcats looked good tonight, quick and jumping out of the gym. But are they ready for the cross-town rival shootout #2. I think so, the Bred's guards just dont match up with the Wildcats and if the Darnell is going to play like he did tonight, NCC dont have anyone to stop him. But good luck both teams!!
Qryche11 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Glad to hear Darnell is playing so well. He compliments that team well with his size as they have the athletes. Bellevue just doesnt have the horses to matchup in this one. Kessen looks to be filling it up as of late though so congrats to him for leading the Tigers. Newport could be a very good team if they mature by tournament time. It would be nice to see a competetive District Tournament instead of the usual Highlands/NCC finals as it normally ends up being.
buttels Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 I asked Coach Russell if there is anywhere that Darnell can't shoot from?? Very nice range for a big man. NCC will have their hands full.

NCC will not take Newport lightly as they probably did last time. Newport I'm sure will play a zone because they can't guard NCC's 3 guards and Darnell can't stop Geisler in a man to man defense.

This still sounds a little "confident" for a team that was knocked off by 15. I'm not saying that Newport will absolutely win again, but this makes it sound like a foregone conclusion that they won't. If NC's guards were that much better than Newports they wouldn't have lost the first game. And if Darnell simply can't stop Giesler why didn't they go to Giesler more in the first game? (And didn't Darnell score something like 24 in that game?) Just something to think about.

My point is that NCC will be better prepared and will not take the floor so "confident" but with respect for the opponent. NCC is a better team than Newport and will come out on top without taking the game for granted as they obviously did 2 weeks ago.
Qryche11 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 The paper reported Darnell had over 20 that night, its water under the bridge though at this point. He will have to repeat that performance for Newport to win against NCC.
