ladiesbballcoach Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Ladycats played really well without Natalie Kelsch. Defense smothered Grant County.
ladiesbballcoach Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 whats wrong with Natalie? A year long lingering injury that she has been playing through and didn't feel well tonight.
Pcladycatdad Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 The ladycats did play some all out "D" tonight they put a complete game together, score by quarters 15-2, 25-10, 34-17,and final 49-25 balanced scoring, great game for the Cats
24smom Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Gorby, PG for Grant went out at the beginning of the 2nd with a knee injury. Left the gym at the half. Her return is uncertain. Hopperton, another starter for Grant did not play due to illness. Officiating was interesting. Grant has struggled all year with adjusting to it when playing in a game when they let everything go & let it get physical. The same kind of play that normally gets them into foul trouble wasn't getting called. They did not adjust to the push-offs & Pendleton's very physical play. Gotta learn to adjust to any kind of officiating & be ready for it. Congrats to Pendleton. They just outright out-hustled Grant County & deserved the win.

24smom Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Please keep us updated on her injury. Prayers to a speedy recovery. Although a trainer was not at Pendleton's game, the folks at Pendleton were very caring & wished Candace Gorby well as she was wheeled out of the gym. Some Pendleton folks outside (and Grant folks too) helped get her into the car & were very concerned for her. I did not know a lady from Pendleton who came up to her as she was getting ready to leave the gym at the half to tell Candace how much she appreciated watching her play over the years & how much she enjoyed talking to Candace before the game. I know at the time Candace was in a lot of pain & upset about how she had been playing, but I know after she was calmer, she was appreciative of the Pendleton folks that helped her. Thanks to all of them from Candace! She did say though she will be back & next time she will work on a different outcome!
Lunatic1 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Very nice reflection on the folks at PC. I hope for the best for Gorby, please keep us informed.
Footloose Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Wow. Would never have thought the spread would have been so much. Grant is a pretty physical team. Guess the injury and Hopperton being sick really did have some affect on the outcome. Congrats to Pendleton!

To be fair to Pendleton, Natalie Kelsch who is Pendleton's leading scorer and only player in double digits in average and leading rebounder did not play in the game because of illness.
KnightSchool Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I am quite surprised at this score, too. I thought the game would be much closer especially if both teams had such important players missing.
ladiesbballcoach Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Coach Elliott changed up the starting lineup to focus on defense and team speed. It seemed to have pretty good results. Nice move by Coach Elliott. Sophomore Beth King took Natalie's spot in the lineup. She is 6'0" and can move having ran for many years on the cross country and track circuit. Shannon Lorenz moved into the starting lineup with good results. Her ball handling, quickness, toughness and gritty play showed last night.
