January 3, 200818 yr It was fun to watch the Brown's this year but I think they might regress a little next year. I don't think they will be able to pay D.A. and stay on top because they are going to have to pay Quinn too. They made outstanding moves by getting Steinbech, Thomas, D.A. and J. Lewis! I think they snuck up on some folks but I think Anderson will be gone and Quinn will have his growing pains sometimes next year. Keeping Winslow healthy along with Edwards is a huge key for them. I really like B. Edwards and Romeo.

We also have a HUGE amount of cash under the cap to spend.
January 3, 200818 yr Bentley also apparently has not been happy at all with the treatment he has received from the Browns' doctors. Now I have never read that anywhere. His first two surgeries were performed at the Cleveland Clinic and he wasn't too pleased with the clinic's doctors... but no where have I heard that he was upset with the Browns medical staff.

They say he will have a much bigger contract than the one Schaub got this year. Eventually the Brown's will have to pay Quinn to keep him. They might try to pay both but I can't see how that's a very good business move money wise to pay two guys at the same spot that much money. If Cleveland wants to keep DA then they are going to have to pay him pretty to lock him up 4 years. Others will be throwing big dollars his way. He had an amazing season until the last 2 games in which he looked really bad. I still don't think that's going to hurt him though.
January 3, 200818 yr The max tender for a Derek Anderson as a RFA is 2.3 million, the Browns can easily pay that AND pay Quinn. Will Quinn play eventually? Yes, we invested to much in him draft pick wise NOT to play him.. . but, money wise, he isn't hurting our cap.
January 3, 200818 yr You are joking right? We aren't going to pay DA in the range of the top 5 QBs in the league, especially when we just spent a first round pick on one last year.
January 3, 200818 yr No, my jokes are funny. Depends on how bad they want him... Brady Quinn against that schedule? Right....

I might be wrong but I thought other teams had a shot to come in with big offers to him + the Browns had a chance to match?
January 3, 200818 yr No, my jokes are funny. Depends on how bad they want him... Brady Quinn against that schedule? Right.... 2 things 1) We can keep DA without franchising him. If we want to keep him, we will tender him the max, then match whatever deal another team puts down 2) This time last year when the schedule came out I said... Holy S@%#. The first half of the season will be brutal and Charlie Frye will get killed. Then Derek Anderson will come in and he will get killed. DA transformed into a performer though and saved the season. No one saw that coming at all, not even Browns fans. My preseason prediction was 5-11. Point is, can Brady get it done? I don't know, maybe not, but I'm not gonna look at the schedule NOW and say we will lose what games NEXT year. Because i did that this year, and not only was i DEAD wrong, but we finished 10-6.

Yes, the Browns can tender him. After that another team can offer him a contract sheet. If he signs it, then the Browns have a certain allotment of time to match it. If they match it, DA stays a Brown, if they don't then Cleveland gets that teams 1st and 3rd round pick.

Just my hunch but I think somebody will offer him to big of a deal to match because they are going to have to pay Quinn eventually. I'd say the Brown's will take a 1st+3rd for him and continue to build on the great talent they are putting together.
January 4, 200818 yr I heard today that Romeo is shopping him. They are more than likely looking for a top 5 pick plus more. The problem they risk running themselves is that if another team comes in and offers them a really high offer the Browns have the cap room to match BUT teams know what other teams don't like in contracts such as incentives etc. Throw for such and such yds or such and such TD's then you get 1 million dollars etc. That sets it up when the next guy goes to negotiate his contract that he (his agent) is going to say you paid DA 1 million dollars for this and that so that's what my guy wants. The Browns had bettter lock him up now and quit messing around or they are going to lose him. The good news if he goes is that they will get some really nice draft picks and Quinn looked good but I still think he will have a learning curve.
January 4, 200818 yr If anybody traded a top 5 pick for Derek Anderson, that GM should be fired immediately....
January 4, 200818 yr If anybody traded a top 5 pick for Derek Anderson, that GM should be fired immediately.... I don't know how you can say that. You roll the dice with a draft pick. This guy led a very overachieving Browns team to 10 wins and threw 30+TD's. He's 6'6 and can move. He's got egos like Winslow, Edwards etc that LOVE him. It's not a crapshoot with him. He proved himself this year.
