Is your combine a state ran combine? Does the State sponsor a combine? Does the state coaches association have a combine? Are the NATS combines the Nike combines? I am just trying to learn about the high school combines.

 

We were/are not a state run combine. We are an independantly run combine and that was one of the things college coaches liked. We did not have any ties. The NATS combines are not the Nike combines. The NATS combines were a good idea set up by the college coaches to standardize the testing for all combines but there have been problems in the way they were run on a national basis, in my opinion.

North Bullitt's RB Dalton Cissell was invited and will attend the US Army Combine held in conjunction with the US Army All-American game in San Antonio this weekend.

Will Letton of Lexington Catholic is also at the same combine.

Combines can be a very good recruitment tool. So many coaches are overwhelmed with these numbers. The most important thing IMO is you have to train specifically for them. You need to know before you go, what your 40 is, how many times you can put up 185 or 225, what your shuttle time is, what your verticle is. It is well worth the time and effort to work to improve these. IMO every football player should run track and do agility training. Sadly, these numbers can often be more important than what a player does on the field. Just remember, bad numbers can hurt as much as good numbers can help, so don't go in blind.

 

It's up to you to contact schools, and let them know your son is interested in them. I would start with 50 or so schools of various levels. Send letter of introduction and profile. You will narrow it down later. Then in the summers between Soph & Jun and Jun & Sen attend as many 1-day camps that you can get an invite to. The 1-day camps are basically a mini combine for that school, so be trained and ready when you go.
