I agree, it will never happen as long as BS is there. I'm not so sure they still don't play after he is gone.

 

Not so sure either, since it was Highlands that dropped NCC and renewing is probably not in the best overall interest of Highlands. Because then games like Highlands vs Colerain next year might never happen if it is resumed.

I understood, and I compromised. Each game is played at one of the rival's home field. I was saying that you could buy an all day pass and parking pass and travel from field to field. The parking pass would make it easier to find a place to park in a limited amount of time.

 

That would be most difficult to do in Ft Thomas as we do not pass on a regular basis... :thumb:

The schools get along great without playing each other... both managed several state championships since the competition was stopped by NCC. Back in the day when the two schools were evenly matched it was the hottest ticket in northern Kentucky. Now that there is quite a disparity between the schools in athletic competition - the BIRDS are better off playing Louisville St. X, Trinity, Elder or Colerain. I do not forsee this rivalry comming back in the near future until the BREDS feel comfortable playing at this level of competition.

Sorry, But I really am not sold on this idea. The majority of these teams play each other during the regular season. Kinda anti climatic if you ask me. The only one anyone seems to be talking about is the Highlands /NCC match up and it just seems that the NKY Bowl is just a sidestep attempt to get that match up.

Highlands dropped NCC to pursue other marquee games such as Elder at PBS and the Pit. That did not sit well with NCC and a certain coach who did not want to be dropped, but was understandable for Highlands since Highlands goal at the time was more national recognition. Back then there were more district games that had to be played and there wasn't much value for Highlands in the NCC game continuing since they were a Class A school coming off a 2-9 season. The last year (1998) the NCC game actually fell after the start of 7 district games for Highlands. And any games played at Newport Stadium could be on a Saturday so a short district week. In 1999 Elder took the NCC week on the schedule.

I just brought it up because looking at the KHSAA website I realized these 6 schools are the winningest schools in NKY during this decade, and thought it would be nice to see Highlands - NCC these 2 having a the same amount of wins (on the field) play. Boone and Cov. Cath did not play this year so I wanted to see that rivalry renewed and I like the Dixie- Beechwood game. Of course the Big game would be NCC- Highlands.
