Edge Wins World Heavyweight Championship

I heard HHH gave up the belt when he came back because he didn't want to ruin the bad guy appeal Orton had going on.

What do you mean? HHH had the belt for just a few hours, on October 7. Orton was given the belt when Cena had to give it up due to injury. HHH won it from him with a school boy roll up, successfully defended against Umaga, and then lost it back to Orton at the end of the night in the Last Man Standing Match.

I am not really sure what the point of that title switch was, unless it was simply to get HHH closer to Flair's record. I do have to say, I was stunned when he didnt get up from the RKO during the Last Man Standing.

One of the things that I always heard about wrestlers like APA and Roddy and Andre was that they didn't get titles because they didn't need titles to get pops and be central in storylines.

Orton needs the title or a titlechase to get heat.

HHH can get heat by spitting water.

Good move by HHH.

I agree. If HHH takes back his bad guy gig Orton might as well quit..

I would like to see HHH take a role that all these guys who think they are bad, he takes umbrage to that as he is the baddest of the bad and he makes it a point that everyone knows he is the baddest and THEN makes a run at the title.

Give Orton a year to do whatever storylines and while HHH is showing all the bad ones that HHH is the baddest of bad. And about 9 months from now, HHH does a little interview on how he has shown all who is the baddest except for one. You beat me in our last match and you have been running around for the past year thinking you are all that. Well I have been amiss to not remedy that and I am now. You and me Orton and you will come to know that HHH is the baddest in the WWE.

And then have HHH destroy Orton.

I think there is an outside shot that HHH could be turning heal, soon. Short of a lengthy feud with Orton - he has done about all he can as a face on Raw.

After Hardy got the win over HHH, I looked for him to go off on Hardy and pedigree him and just beat him without mercy, leaving him bloody in the ring. I still think that may happen before Royal Rumble. If HHH is not in the main event at WM24, I can see him facing HBK - and I dont think that would work unless he is a heal. A "respect" match between the two would be fun for us to see, but I don't think WWE would go with that. Its too hard to build a storyline on a face vs. face.

When he lost it back to Orton is what I meant. If he would have kept it Orton's story line would have been all screwed up.

Disagree on HHH and HBK. They have done that enough and it has to be a special storyline to bring another of those matches. They should be special matches that are the pinnacle of a strong storyline and not some throwaway match at WM24.

Yeah, I agree - but he winning it in the first place was really pointless. That is the point I am trying to make. The fact that he rolled him up for the win the first time really set Orton's push off on the wrong foot.

I agree - but as wrestling fans you and I both know that what "should" happen, is hardly ever what WWE goes with. If they did want to build up the storyline, they have time to do it. With HBK going over Kennedy (for whatever reason) and HHH with a reason to turn heal - HHH has enough time to slowly turn heal, maybe keey Shawn from winning the rumble, beat him down - build up the fued through No Way OUt and then have an awesome match at WM24.

I do still call him turning heal though.

I'm kinda lost, I don't watch it enough to know all the story lines.

I do not like Edge.

I do not like Orton.

I'm not a big fan of Cena. Speaking of him...Where has he been?

I'm also not a big fan of Batista but can tolerate him more so than Edge & Orton.

Not a fan of Mr. Kennedy.

Cena's out for about 6 months I believe..

Now I could see them giving HHH #1 at the Rumble and him outlasting 29 other wrestling superstars to give him the WM shot.

That would give him another feather in his hat, so to speak.

Only Flair has done that correct?

Austin..

Austin..

Only more of a reason why HHH would want to do it.

Put him in company with those names of Austin and Flair.

I agree... Austin might of done it twice but i'm not sure. He had a bounty on him from Vince and basically dominated the whole rumble.
