How are the 13th Region Junior Varsity Squads shaping up? Who are the standouts and contributors so far?

South Laurels are really good .. Coach Brad Sizemore and John Green have done a awesome job with this years bunch.. The JV cards are led by So.Matt Watkins, and So. Eric Wright.. Matt may not be a JV player for too long though, he has been playing alot of mins in Varsity, and looks start next season.. Eric Wright is the son of Coach Steve Wright, so far "E" has shown awesome leadership for the JV team this year, and is a great kid on and off the court.

Haven't watched them yet, but I hear Corbin's frontcourt is huge. 6'7,6'4 and 6'3 more height than most varisty teams. Alot of basketball talent at Corbin these days.

I had the chance to watch some JV games this week and Whitley Co beat South Laurel. If South is as good as y'all say then Whitley must have a really bright future ahead of them.

Whitley won the 13th region freshman tourney last year, so they do have some good young talent to play with.

I would assume that Mason's experienced freshmen are playing on JV?

Sat Dec 8 at a Whitley Co. tournament. Corbin plays Pineville and probably South Laurel. Several freshmen teams are going to participate. Mon Dec 10 Clay Co comes to Corbin. Clay has been the team to beat so far in freshman ball. :thumb:

Sounds like a good day of basketball, games like these help the younger players improve alot, all levels need their own games to play in which helps the main teams later on.

I truely think Corbin will win the 13th region JV tournement this year.

Did you happen to catch the Corbin/ SL Jv game, man what a game.. Sl got a tough 3 point victory in OT 57-54

North Laurel beat South Laurel's JV by 9 last week.

Penleton County has a very good JV team this year they start 3 Freshman 1 sophmore and 1 junior.
