The Lady Owls opened their season with a win over rival Wolfe County in Booneville tonight. Owsley jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Taking a 31 to 7 lead to half time. But the Lady Wolves never quit playing and cut the lead to 17 points in the third quarter but Owsley was able to hang on for the win.

I see Wright's numbers moving up as the season progresses. She is a very athletic player, even if she is an 8th grader. Her future looks very, very bright.

In the JV game she started out very timid. Scoring only 2 points in the first half. In the second half she had 12 points and finished with 14 rebounds and 6 blocks.

She has so much potential it's unreal. If she only knew. 5'7, left handed, vertical leap off the charts.... the kid is the real deal.

I agree totally Professor. I have followed girls basketball at Owsley since it began in 1974 and I don't recall a girl that has as much natural ability and talent as this young girl. She only began last year as a 7th grader and her improvement is phenomenal in 1 year. If she continues to improve at this rate, she will be something to watch in a couple of years. (But she already is now). As Augger stated, she lacks confidence, but she is getting better, the more playing time she gets. As you said earlier, this year and the future looks bright for the Lady Owls. Looking down to the elementary school team, I don't see any lapse of talent for Owsley. :ylsuper:
