Ashland/Montgomery Co. Scrimmage

Featured Replies

Ashland won their final scrimmage today against Montgomery co. 92-85. Five players in double figures for Ashland. played 9 guys in and out the whole game. Should be a great year in the 16th. Elliott, Rose Hill even though they lost 90-67 to Mason looked good. Mason is unreal good. Ashland all looking good right now.

Any specifics on some lesser known players who got some PT tonight?

Word on the street is that Buddy played some freshmen in this game and that he got great contributions from his big three (Thomas, Bonner, and Coleman).

Seniors Thomas and Coleman, Juniors Bonner, Bowling, and Matt Rowe, Sophs JD Adams and Will Skaggs, Freshman Chris Johnson. The boys played well. Strong and fast. They really looked for each other.

Those are the ones I figured would get a majority of the minutes. JD Adams has grown quite a bit since last season, he may be around 6'3 or 6'4. Chris Johnson should turn into a very good player, but he needs to get stonger.

Does anyone know any individual stats?

Ashland could have easily won this game by 20+ but they kept giving up big leads

JD Adams is about actually 6'1", maybe 6'2". Chris will become a good player. He works hard and is very coachable.

Wouldn't quite say that. Montgomery kept track of their fouls(which hurt them) got in foul trouble.

Montgomery with starters in had a five point lead in the third quarter.

Is this the type of scores MC fans are to expect under their new coaching staff? If so it may take some getting use to from the scores of old in the 40's -60 range. I'm sure they will not mind it at all.

Yes this is the type of scoring we expect. Mc is playing MUCH more uptempo. Much more excitement.

Looking forward to seeing an improved Indian squad this year. Is the schedule any stronger (seems like in years past it was chock full of single-A sized schools) this year? I know they play Mason County in Mt. Sterling some time this year.

Talked to thier coach and yes the schedule is some improved. Look forward to playing the Indians on Dec !4 th here at GRC...will be a wild one as usual.

The Indians did get into some foul trouble in the scrimmage with Ashland. This may be a area that MC will have to work on this year.
