December 6, 2007 -- Jason Kidd was "on strike," last night several team sources claimed, and he essentially called in sick, perhaps in an effort to force a trade from the Nets or get a contract extension.

 

Coach Lawrence Frank said Kidd phoned him complaining of a migraine yesterday at about 2 p.m. Kidd never showed for last night's 100-93 defeat against the Knicks, also short-handed, in the Meadowlands.

 

Maybe it was the contract extension he sought and did not receive. Maybe it is the general state of the team. Maybe it is a desire for a trade. Whatever the reason, whatever the cause, Kidd chose a game against the division rival Knicks to state his case. And the Nets certainly proved how much they need Kidd, losing to the 6-11 Knicks who were without Eddy Curry and Stephon Marbury.

 

"He's on strike," on team source said.

 

Kidd's teammates were tight-lipped, though one claimed, "I can't picture Jason doing that. I would be disappointed if he did."

 

But another source said the Nets were planning on - if not already - talking to Dallas, the Lakers and perhaps Cleveland about a trade. Kidd nearly was traded to the Lakers last February.

Really werid situation. It's not like Kidd to do something like that so something is seriously wrong up there.

What's funny with the Nets is, Kidd leads the team in rebounding! Now I know Kidd has always been a great rebounder but come on...Kidd is 6-4...He has teammates that are 6-7, 6-6, 6-6 & 6-9 (those players start for the Nets) & he is the leader in that category by 4!!!.

 

On another note: I wish the deal would have got done that sent Kidd to LA this past summer...Now that would have been interesting.

Now while I can't agree that Vince is a cancer :fight:, I do agree that Kidd will be on his way out of New Jersey soon.

Kobe would love it to but their are just so may if's to get a deal with those 2 teams down. It would have to be a Multi-team deal. The Lakers won't give up Farmar and Bynum.

I'm a huge NBA fan, Hawks and whoever Garnett happens to be playing for (in this years case the Celts of course) as the games I most watch. Yes the Hawks, but at least they are entertaining. I broke down and got League Pass this year which has already been worth every cent. The point to all this is leading me to the Golden State Warriors, who have quickly become a "must-watch" for me. They are really entertaining and leave it all on the floor. I am excited to see many things with this team, their home court becoming even more fierce, Ellis continue to improve, Kelenna (sp?) gaining confidence and Stephen Jackson breaking out his "nine" for some after the game fun. I predict that whoever gets the Warriors in the playoffs, assuming Baron Davis is healthy which is a big assumption, will have major headaches.
