Let's hear it...

This will be a tough one, let me give it some thought. Great question.

I'm really struggling with this one because I can't remember who played for whom. Back in my day there were several small schools. At one time there was 12 or so teams in the 64th alone.

 

A couple of guys that stick out to me are Bobby Trimble and Carl Cotton. Recently Cam Thoroghman for a brief time was excellent.

After much deliberation here is my all time Raceland Ram starting 5.

 

G - Bob Trimble

G - Charlie Bill Adkins

F - Carl Cotton

F - Charles "Birdseed" Rice

C - Larry "Stick" Stevens

 

Not as impressive as Fairview's but a nice team none the less.

There has been a couple of threads on this in the past. I can't find them now so I will give it some thought and post my list later.

What about Heaberlin??(sp)

Wasn't he all-state?

I would put Jason Clark a little bit further down on this list!

Ron Duncan (imo best ever at Raceland, went on to play at Auburn)

Carl Cotton / Jack Johnson (Toss up on this one for me, both I heard were awesome b.b. players)

Troy Shelton/ Chris Vandergriff (again, hard to decide between these two imo they both deserve mention)

 

I realize I mentioned more than 5 but was just adding a couple that I coudn't decide on and am sure that I am leaving some out.

 

I will add a Coach to this list : Tom Hamilton.

Of these 5 truly only Watkins and Trimble could put a team on their back and carry them for awhile

:thumb:You are 100% correct on J. Watkins, I had forgotten about him. I also agree with how he and Trimble could carry a team through a game.

I would put Jason Clark a little bit further down on this list!
