Denver "Smokey" Jones passed away Saturday at his home. Smokey was a lifelong umpier and referree in Eastern Kentucky. Smokey was also a member of the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame. RIP Smokey.

So sad to hear the news. Smokey's been around the 14th for as long as I can remember. Prayers go out to the family.

Sad to hear. He was one of the best, if not, the best official to come out of Eastern Kentucky.

I'm sorry to hear this. Smokey, along with Tommy Hall, officiated the first game in our new gym at Owsley County when we opened it in 1976.

He was a cut-up and always fun to be around.

Officiated many games for me.

 

Best slow pitch softball official ever. The only man that could call all 4 bases and keep a scorebook at the same time.

 

We will miss you "Smoke"!
