One thing that surprises me about Ft. Campbell's visitor's seating at Fryer Stadium is that it is much better than many of the 4A, 5A and 6A schools I have seen. I must say it is pretty good compared to most.

 

Then I can understand why the FC folks would be upset if visitors sat on the home field side. I'm so used to seeing visitors seating being about 8-10 rows of gently sloped rows that make it almost impossible to see the game over the team on the sidelines. And when visitors at those stadiums sit on the home field side, the home fans get upset, which makes no sense. Put in some decent visitor seating and I'll sit there.

Yea, I agree. When that happened, I wasn't so much mad, but more confused. Maybe they just wanted to be close to the bathroom.

Best fans, other than my own high school of course (hey, look! We're #3 in Florida's Class 4A! ) ...

 

... and remembering that my newspaper career took me to Wyoming, Oregon, Kentucky and Florida ...

 

Belfry. Easily. Always acted classy, traveled very well (sometimes outdrawing the home team), treated fans of other teams well.

 

Second place goes to Burns (Wyo.) Junior/Senior High School. The parents of a coupla Burns Broncs saw me trying to send a game story via a cellular phone modem from the tailgate of my truck one night at the truck stop there; after that, I got to use a phone line at an insurance office near the school. Love those folks. Unfortunately, the Broncs are already out of the 2A playoffs (that's what happens sometimes when you draw the #1 team in the first round and have a six-hour road trip).
