mountainmojo68
This game was a comedy of errors in the first half. PC would fumble then SV would throw a pick. Then PC would answer by throwing a pick. SV would turn right around and fumble. SV won the game and deserve congrats but neither team showed me anything. newarkcatholicfan
This one was a major disappointment for me because I’m a big time Pike Central fan. I know that those young men was giving it everything they had but it was a far cry from what they needed. I was a little stunned to see Merchant not utilized a lot more. Number 18 for Pike Central who had two picks looks like a true player as did 88 for Central. Good luck to both teams in the next one.
newarkcatholicfan
The night started off like a dream for Pike Central when they recovered the opening kickoff. Number 88 for Central pounced on the ball that had hit number 5 from Valley. Things quickly turned into a nightmare for the Hawks. With 11:35 left in the opening quarter number 35 from Valley got to Number 10 the quarterback for Central dropping him for a ten-yard loss. The nightmare was temporarily put on hold when the very talented Joe Nichols picked off a Valley taking it back to the Wildcats twenty-two-yard line with 5:09 left in the quarter. The Wildcats number ten picked off a Central pass just fifty one seconds later ending what looked to be a very promising scoring chance for the Hawks. Nichols made the stop before any more damage was done on the play. With .27 left in a turnover crazy quarter the Wildcats got a fifteen-yard run by number twenty. The quarter came to a close with things all locked up at zero. With 11:34 left in the half the Hawks got a pick by number 13 on a pass thrown by number 3 of Valley. The Hawks offense could do little and was forced to give the ball back to Valley via the punt. The Wildcats took a 6-0 lead when number 20 scored on a thirty-four run where he ran over two would be tacklers. Number 13 for the Hawks blocked the point after kick by number 3 keeping the score, 6-0 Valley. Valley would get a fine run of twenty-nine yards by number 7 with 7:01 left in the half and then with 6:34 left the Wildcats got a twenty-six yard run by number 3 who went right up the gut of the Hawks defense. Number 11 of the Wildcats scored on a eleven-yard run with 6:10 left in the half to put the Wildcats up, 12-0. A two-point conversion run came up short and the scored stayed 12-0 Wildcats. With 4:44 left in the half a bad snap from center caused number 10 of the Hawks to fumble the ball and for the Wildcats number 35 came of with it. A twenty yard completion to number 4 of the Wildcats who was wide opened set up the next score. That score came on a three-yard run by number 3 with 1:54 left in the half. A two point conversion pass put the Wildcats up 20-0. Number 20 caught the conversion pass for the Wildcats. With 39.5 seconds left in the half number 18 of Pike Central picked of a Valley pass and returned it eighty-two yards for the score. The kick by number 48 was no good and the scored stayed 20-6, Wildcats. The Wildcats number 3 picked off a pass thrown by number 10 of Pike Central with 10:46 left in the third but the offense could do little and was forced to punt it back to Central just a short time later. The Hawks would take twelve plays to go ninety-four yards to edge a little closer. The score came on twenty eight-yard catch and run by number 88. The kick by number 48 wasn’t close and the score remained , 20-12 Cats. Valley got a thirty-yard completion when number 1 hit number 11 with 10:01 left in the game. Then on the drives seventh play number 3 for the Wildcats scored from a yard out. A two-point conversion was successful making the score 28-12, Wildcats with 9:36 left. The Wildcats ended the scoring for the night with 3:04 left in the game when number 3 scored from eleven-yards out to make the final score, 34-12 Wildcats.
