N.E.K.C (football conference)

Featured Replies

Well, I'm going to follow my six teams and keep an updated standings throughout the season on what "if" they played a conference this season. The games will be determined on the field (with the exception of 3 games and I will use the weekly massey or cantrell ratings to determine the winners).

North East Kentucky Conference teams:

Ashland, Boyd, Greenup, Lawrence, Raceland, & Russell

Here is the season "conference" schedule:

week 1:

Raceland @ Ashland

Greenup @ Russell

week 2:

Russell @ Boyd

week 3:

no games

week 4:

Ashland @ Russell

week 5:

Boyd @ Lawrence

week 6: BIGGEST NEKC WEEK OF SEASON

Ashland @ Boyd

Greenup @ Raceland

Russell @ Lawrence

week 7:

Boyd @ Greenup

Raceland @ Lawrence (massey/cantrell rating game)

week 8:

Greenup @ Ashland

week 9:

Lawrence @ Greenup

Raceland @ Boyd (massey/cantrell rating game)

week 10:

Russell @ Raceland

Lawrence @ Ashland (massey/cantrell rating game)

week 11:

no games

I hope to generate some excitement about "what could be" if there were ONLY 3 more games scheduled.:dancingpa

I'm with you DD. I am excited to see how it plays out. It would be great if this conference made it to fruition.

Fairview decide not to join the conference? I don't blame them it's hard to run with the pack when you are the three legged dog with mange! :D

I kill me. Some rivalries never die. GO RAMS!

It will be easier to root against them with Cooksey on the sideline, won't it Red?

This is fun to look at and talk about with Raceland being the only class A school in the mix - talk about a brutal schedule in the what if scenerio....................Ashland, Boyd, Russell, Lawrence, Greenup as conference games and then add Stiff district competition LCA, Paris (who is definately on the rise imo) along with Fairview and Nicholas Co. . That is 9 games and I have heard talks have been going on with Ironton although I don't know or think that anything other than a grid o rama type thing may develop.

Raceland loves playing tough schedules but year in and year out with only 1 class A school (Raceland) in with a 5A (Ashland), (3) - 4A schools (Lawrence, Boyd, Greenup) and 3A Russell - then add a "maybe" game in the works with Ohio State power Ironton    . A lot of years Raceland would be right in the mix for the "what if conference top team" but for a class A school to go each year with this schedule along with playing the actual important games which are the district it would be very tough for a class A school (any class A school) each year - year in and year out just bc of the number of kids each year as opposed to the bigger schools. That is maybe a realistic view...... but...........Raceland has always looked at it as "anyone, anywhere, anytime" so lets go. (LOL)

JMO and it will be fun to watch and keep up with. I am glad that you posted this and will keep it updated Dawg :thumb: .

Ashland does not play Lawrence Co. this year.

Ashland does not play Lawrence Co. this year.

I think that maybe he was talking about getting the winner from the overall team rating/ number? :thumb:

It was already easy now. Now it will be REALLY easy! :D

I see said the blind man. Thanks for keeping me lined out!

:thumb: You are certainly not alone - I suffer from the same thing most of the time. I guess that goes along with getting old.............or as I prefer to call it "Well Seasoned and Much Experienced" :D :thumb:

OldRambler, You're absolutely right about Raceland taking on all challengers. It would be tough to play in this conference every year, but they are the only (small) school that would be willing to schedule the other five schools. Without calling out any other local schools, there is no other school willing (or close too) scheduling the five larger schools to make this conference work. No other school BUT RACELAND has the courage to take on the other teams/challenges. I just wish the conference could come to fruition and work out.

Look for my updated standings sometime tomorrow, when I am able to include a couple of links to articles dealing with the "conference" games results.

Russell vs Greenup

Raceland vs Ashland

Graybeard, I will be using the ratings to determine the victor of those games that are not actually played on the field (as oldrambler stated), but I want to wait till the end of the actual season to get the best overall rating to determine the "hypothetical" winner.

Thanks for your comments about Raceland, and I agree with you. Raceland normally plays Ashland and Greenup Co., we used to play Lawrence Co., and we now play Russell. We also play East and West Carter. We have not played Boyd Co. in modern times, but we would. I look at Raceland as a football team, not a 1A football team. :thumb:
