Dayton/Holy Cross Scrimmage

Featured Replies

Ellis just has a bruised knee nothing serious at all just a little sore. He has been going full go in pracitce the coaches just thought he should set this one out.Chris Young which is most likely going to be Ellis's number one target this year dislocated his shoulder in practice. He is healthy now also i think he was at practice the next day so nothing serious there either. Tyler Lucaus the center had a operation on his foot. He is now released by his doctor and should be at practice monday.

Any thoughts on Daytons linebackers i viewed some nice hits by the senior Keith Searcy that plays left guard and right inside linebacker

Bottom line rookie qb's made mistakes. Ellis and Young would have made a huge difference

Rookie qb's played a big part in the game. Keith Searcy is an absolute nut one of the best linebackers in nky. In the answer about the D1 lineman he did alright plenty of talent and potential but just dont get into the game unless someone lights a fire under him but after that hes a monster he shouldnt be stopped at all this year.

How about the big DI(?) lineman Dayton has, how did he look? or did anyone notice?

He could have done better. He has the size he just needs to stay low and come off the ball hard.

Did Richardson and Lewallen play? And, how did the youngmen do??

Young was out because of a dislocated shoulder. People, yeah he coulda played, but anytime he has to pop that shoulder back into place they are going to "recommend" that he sit out longer. He sat out under recommendation, though not necessity. While he might be Ellis' top target, don't sleep on Trimnell if he can keep his head on straight. While Young has the speed to run by anyone, Trimnell has a little bit of height on him, and is no slouch in the speed dept. And 'lil 86 is a shifty kid too that can turn short passes into big gains. They have some depth at the skill positions...

McIntyre is the kid with DI letters coming his way... he's a legit 6'5'', possibly 6'6''. but as stated above, it's all about technique and consistancy with him... don't forget he is still only in his third year of football...

maybe the rookie QB's had a lot to do with it, but I don't see how you can say that decided everything. HC had a couple big gainers. HC made some mistakes too... No way to say that 2 guys woulda decided it. If you play the if game all season you will be saying "if" we would've done this we woulda been playing in December instead of actually being there...

Searcy is a very good linebacker. Hard hitter. Crazy guy. But to say that he is one of the best in NKY, one would have to be very educated on all LB's in NKY, and I don't think anyone is yet... Lets not forget that the position of linebacker is more than being a maniac on the field and being able to pop pads...

On the above question, Richardson and Lewallen both played, but I don't know what relevance that has... this is such a senior dominated team that while these guys have promise, neither is a varsity two way guy yet... they played well in limited action...

Richardson is the only underclassmen that starts. He is a right defensive end could come in and play RB in a short yardage situation. Lewallen only played JV defensive end could have made some big plays but made soph. mistakes he will get better over the season and might earn some PT.

wow for a minute I thought you were referring to Brian Lewallen 7th grader...whew......Great kid by the way and will be a dandy for the Devils in the nxt few years.

No his cousin Christian and Brian will half to hit the weight room and get bigger and faster before he becomes a dandy.

Did anyone see the cheap shot that was taken on a HC receiver across the middle? Well for you that didn't see it...a HC receiver got his jimmies racked.

A real jimmie racker, that's what happens when you cross the middle (or should happen) Go Greenies

I saw the game and no cheap shots stick out in my mind, towards the end the younger guys where in and Dayton's F.S. intercepted a ball and ran out of bounds where he was hit late but besides that I don't recall any "cheap" shots
