Yes, in 1959. They were coached by Jock Sutherland. They were eliminated in the first round by eventual champion North Marshall and Mr. Basketball Pat Doyle.

????? If i am not mistaken, one of your best players from the previous 2 years was a transfer. As a matter of fact, when the starting lineups are announced , your P.A. guy also mentions the starters hometown/residence. The player in question was mentioned to be from Louisville.

He moved to Henry County during his sophomore year, never playing organized basketball. He turned out great, but I am talking about good established talent. The kids that dont have to learn the game. You all got edmonson, a great talent who was already established. Thats what I am saying.

Sounds alot like sour grapes to me. The two young men in question both have unique circumstances that do not need to be revealed in a public forum. I can assure that these kids and parents are not trophy hunters. Think about what you are saying, the player in question from last year left a team that was a favorite to win its region and did win its region. Kids/ Parents that actually get playing time at 3A / 4A size schools do not transfer down to A schools on a regular basis. The player that you are referring to regarding this year has not even enrolled. Whether he does or not remains to be seen. I do know that his mother graduated from Gallatin Co.

You obviously live in or are from the Oldham Co. area. Gee, they have never had any transfers at any of the Oldham Co. schools have they?:sssh: . I know better.

They are not going to be able to score points like they did last year, Maddux and Carrolton both stay in foul trouble, they have one sub and he is a freshmen, high expectations every year which I would say drives their coaches crazy, they will make the All A, and they will make their tourney but let's not get carried away, Owen should have beat them this summer and they only beat Henry by 4, that district will be fun to watch again. Their 2weakness last year and this year will be no athleticism to jump over people and score, and no shooter except for Brown.

Those are sharp criticisms of a group that has been involved in winning 44 games the last two years. Coach Jones has worked hard for several years to get to this point. With hard work comes success. Success brings high expectations. My guess is that Coach Jones will gladly welcome the high expectations considering what little success the basketball program has had historically. I can assure you that the rest of the teams /schools in that district do not , nor should not have the same expectations.

No, the kids that won games for them are Perkins, and last year Edmonson, they lost to Oewn last year, should have been twice we all know what happened there, lost to Henry last year, beat Henry by 1 twice, so I do not think they are so dominant. Wiithout Edmonson last year they would have beaten only Carroll, and would have not made it to the regional tourney. We will just have to wait and see, but I think they will win 18-22 games becuase of the all a, and conference play. It will be interesting to see who else they beat! Who is going to come off the bench for them? Can they press now? Great ??????

Never said dominant. Perkins will be a big loss. Woulda, coulda,shoulda,DIDN'T.

What younger groups have you been watching ? Although i realize that Middle School success does not always translate to success at the High School level, Gallatin's Senior, Junior, Sophmore, and Freshman classes have had alot of success at the Middle School level. As a matter of fact, this years Freshman class has lost a total of 5 games in the last 3 years. Does that mean they will continue that same level of excellence through High School ? That remains to be seen but it is something to build on. You are right , Coach Jones will have to work hard to maintain a certian level of success. Nothing ever comes easy.

Now i am not saying that Owen, Henry, Carroll, etc... will not be able to compete with Gallatin, it's along season and everyone will be hungry to knock them off, but they better pack a lunch.
