August 13, 200719 yr Rumors are circulating (as SVFan and Sting touched on) that Jay may be holding onto the spot a while longer. Apparently NBC decided that Conan would be worth more in the long haul than Jay and decided to ink him to the deal... However, Jay's ratings are still consistently tops and both Jay and NBC are having 2nd thoughts about the deal... In fact, I've read on a couple of sites that Jay didn't even want to do this in the first place, that NBC forced his hand. Apparently Conan has said that if NBC goes back on their agreement that he will switch networks... Those late night battles get nasty. Again I stress that that's all rumor.
