What many consider a "carry" is truly a multiple contact. To be considered a lift or carry the ball must stay in contact for a prolonged period. In many cases what looks like a lift is truly a double contact. This subtle difference is important because double contacts are permitted on the first touch. So many of the digs that everyone thinks should be called are actually legal touches.

I prefer the game played the way it is now rather than 15 - 20 years ago when recievers had to bump a hard hit ball. More action and easier to keep the ball alive.

I agree with you it does keep the ball alive, I like the rule on the 1st hit, but it should really not be allowed on the set...that is where is bothers me, when it rolls out of the hands and actually goes backwards it should be a lift or carry.

I have not seen a single call this year yet, believe me it happens alot though.

Agree with you that the setting should be called tight. It is obviously objective and varies from official to official. For the most part, the officials in NKY seem to do a very good job. Most on the varsity level are quite experienced and many are with volleyball year round with JO's.

Any thoughts on Brossart's new coach Whitney Edwards. The Lady Stangs are off to a great 5-0 start. Acouple of their players are getting looks from some small colleges....

BBHS has had a pretty weak schedule thusfar. I think Walton Verona will give them a run on Thursday. But, hope they fair well and wish them the best of luck. Highlands will be a tough matchup also.

I have heard positive things about the new Mustang coach. Is 5-0 the product of a great start or a weak schedule? Who have they beaten?

I have also heard good things about their coach, but, their schedule needs to be a lil tougher. They will have that chance for better competition in the near future. Probably not a bad move on their part to get some wins under the belt of a new coach anyway.
