Anyone else watching this?

I always enjoy being reminded of the great films out there.

I am. I always wondered where Atticus' avatar came from, now I know it comes from To Kill A Mockingbird.

^That and "The Grapes of Wrath" are two books that are done justice by the movie adaptations. Great, great movie.

Scarface, The Godfather, and Citizen Kane are 3 that are still to come.....Last time they did this, Citizen Kane was #1. I'm going to say it stays there.

Don't tell me To Kill A Mockingbird has already been on?!!!! Last year, Atticus Finch was the Film Institute's Greatest Hero and I assume the film would be at least top 3. I have been in and out but haven't seen it yet. Was glad to see The Searchers and Shane rank way up there tho.

I think it was #24 or so...I agree way to low.

It was #25.

I think Citizen Kane will be #1, but can anyone tell me why? I don't get why it is such a great American movie.

Could Martin Scorcese's eyebrows be any thicker?

So what are the top 2?

#1 is going to be Citizen Kane, but I'm at a loss for what #2 is going to be...

I'm crushed. No. 25. What does AFI know anyway? I have never seen it ranked so low. Anyway, I own Citizen Kane and do so only because everyone said it was so great but I don't see it either. It's good, really good, and the ending is fabulous, but IMO not the best of all time. I must admit when I first saw it "Rosebud" got me at the end so strong I had to watch it again. Don't get me wrong, it is not a bad movie at all; just a tad overrated IMO. I guess I'm still a little miffed over my movie being so low.

No one really gives a reason why its so good. They just talk about how you could watch it over and over and it never get old...

I wish Schindler's List was higher, especially since it was based on a true story.

That's right. They can't answer it either.. It "demands attention for another way of looking at the world". That was one answer. I'm not persuaded.
