An 18 year old person can serve the country in war for two years, but when he comes back he still isn't "mature" enough to buy a beer. This absolutely kills me!!! I agree with this and understand your point :thumb: . Maybe when whoever was coming up with this rule/law that they were mainly thinking of the ones that didn't go to the Military or to war. The Military tends to mature a person quicker . That is the only logic to it that I could think of anyway.

Maybe a reasonable compromise would be that an 18 year old can purchase beer if he takes a drill sergeant along to keep an eye on him.
May 31, 200719 yr It is just a matter of nature!!! My oldest son turned 18 Tuesday of this week, by yesterday (Wednesday) he is already Einstein. Figured out how he and his girlfriend can get an apartment, go to college and get part time jobs and make no problem. With a little help on the bills from me?????
May 31, 200719 yr The numbers don't lie. Since Mothers Against Drunk Driving led the charge to raise the drinking age, drunk driving accidents have fallen. That's due more to the fact that there are harsher penalties for drunk driving and more time to preventing drunken driving is being put in by policeman. Do the members of MADD adhere to the saying that "War is young men dying, and old men talking"?

May 31, 200719 yr Eight states define a juvenile as a person under age 17. Connecticut, New York, and North Carolina define a juvenile as a person under age 16! The age of majority is described in the US Code under 18 U.S.C. § 5031. It has been in effect since at least 1940. Doesn't this only come into effect when a crime is of heinous nature? I think so, but an example is like this: 16 year old walks into a convenient store and kills the clerk, the owner, and steals $20, then he/she can face the same punishment as an adult. Wouldn't just be easier to say the juveniles are subject to the same criminal laws as adults upon turning 12, for example?
