hector Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Lex. Cath. and Dunbar are playing in the District Championship game this week. Barring any upsets they will probably be playing again in the Region Finals. (I do not know the status of available pitching but for the sake of discussion): If both teams have their aces available for the district championship would you pitch them in this game or would you wait and not show them to the other team until the Region finals?
JohnLex7 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Each team has already seen the other team's ace, they pitched against each other the first time they met in the game at Catholic. Both teams pitched their #1 guys to get to this game, so the #2 guys will throw tonight.

I would wait....it's not that this game means nothing, because if you lose you have a tougher first round in the Regionals....however, lose in the Regionals and your one and done.

For the sake of the thread, I would pitch my number 2 or 3. These two teams are good enough to pitch their 3 or 4 in the first game of the regional before they match up again in the regional final. Since both teams have already seen each others #1, again I would pitch # 2 or 3.
STRIKE3 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 If my best are available, I go with them 1-2 innings and see how the game is going. It's usually no secret, what the other team has during the season and often, teams try to avoid showing their #1, until District play. Lex. Cath and Dunbar, played 2 games within 3 days, I believe and they know each other very well, charted pitches and it will come down to hitting spots, command of pitches and making plays. Going in as a winner, means first round loser from another District. At the same time, I don't play to finish second, when advancing. Maronde and Royce, are no secrets.
JohnLex7 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Given that many of the boys on those two teams have played with and against each other since they were 10 (or younger) (Maronde being one exception), the do know each other well. There are no surprises when Royse and Maronde take the mound.

They may not be secrets, but they certainly can be unsolvable mysteries to opposing hitters!
