Josh Bleser started and while it took him the first inning to get comfortable, once he did, it was nothing but outs for the men from Boyle County. CovCath was up nine to nothing when CovCath brought in for his first varsity pitching appearance junior John Wehry, who after striking out the first batter he faced, had some first game jitters and gave up a three run home run, but to Wehry credit, once he calmed down, John didn't allow another run, to preserve the CovCath victory.

 

Boyle County starting left hand pitcher can bring some heat, and their SS and catcher are indeed good players....but I don't think they have seen the quality of play that CovCath took to them today so far in this young season....

 

CovCath game vs. Boyle ended a little after 5pm and after catching a quick bite to eat, CovCath then played Ryle at 6pm.....

 

Couldn't ask for a nicer day......

Josh seemed to be pleased with his outing, so seeing him happy with the way he pitched, made my afternoon. This was the first time in a while that I saw him in complete control of each and every one of his pitches. Luke had him moving the ball in and out up and down, and Josh, to me at least, looked like he had complete control of every single pitch he threw, this was even with a umpire who had a rather small strike zone.

 

About his speed? Won't guess, but I will say this, he looked very good, to this old catcher........ :thumb:

There was one certain individual who was I think was even more nervous than John at the game yesterday.

 

The one thing that impressed me the most about Wehry was, not giving up. He kept his head up and kept on pitching. Kudos to Maile, who at the time was playing second base. Luke came over to John put his arm around him and spoke a couple of words to him..... This seemed to work and John did a good job from then on......

The score of today's game is gonna be an ugly one when it's all said and done. My roommate went to the game and returned no later than an hour afterwards...it was 21-0 after an inning and a half.

That is the reason why I didn't make the drive down today....:sleep: The drive down and back would have been longer than the game.....
