Not in a million-zillion years...

And none prior to '00....2000 was a surprise to most as Florida wasn't even in the top 3 in the SEC that year, but, got hot and had a little luck on there side and managed to make the final 4....IMO, that year was more luck than being a power program...I look at UF as a great team the last 2 years, but, not neccessarily a great program...Once Horford, Noah, Brewer and the like are gone, if they keep up the same pace as the last 2 years for the next 3-4 years, then, i may agree that they've developed into a traditional power, but, not based on what they've done to date...Great team, yes, great program, not yet...

How many final fours does Uk have since 2000??

Florida is slowly becoming a basketball powerhouse. These past couple years have just helped. Do you think Noah, Brewer, Horford and Green came because they didn't want to win? Get real. Why do you think almost ALL top recruits have Florida on their list mroe than KY.

Success speaks volumes...and right now Florida is the one having the success.

Well RP, did you forget that Kentucky IS ALSO the all-time winningest program as well?? Surely that counts for something in your book. Or also we have more SEC titels then all other schools combined?? We get a point for that too right??

I am discrediting their history. It's just that in TODAY's teenagers eyes and minds....the bulk of success was in the 40's and 50's...that's foreign to today's teenager.

RP is a hater, when it comes to UK you just have to ignore him.

Darn right I am. But I am usually dead on and fair in my assesments.

GMU has been to 50% of the last 2 final fours...They must be a premiere prgram too

UK has been to 0% of the last 9 years.

Darn right I am. But I am usually dead on and fair in my assesments.

I have no dog in this fight, but I think you're right.

UK is living too much in the past and thats how ALL Uk fans are. They just can't face it that a conference they dominated for so many years is slowly being taken over by someone else.

Wait not only the conference...but also the NCAA tournament that for so many years they dominated. UK's run is up as the top dawg in the SEC... hate to break it to you. Blue and Orange is becoming the new trend.

Boy, do I hate generalizations...

Don't speak for me... Thanks.

Sorry to offend you.

How about "the MAJORITY of UK fans I've seen on here or spoken to."

Much better... All I ask is that we aren't all lumped together. A great deal of us certainly don't feel that way.

I wonder if the FLORIDA job opened up this much nationwide excitement among coaches would exist?? We would then see which job was a step down and which was not.

You got it...the only other job that would get this much atention is DUke and that is ONLY because the ESPN crew would provide 24 hour coverage...Dickie V. might even camp out at the admin. building!!

I think that when Coach K retires...the search will be VERY short.

Actually Brewer wanted to come to UK. He just wasn't offered a scholarship.

Florida has had a nice run. Kentucky and Duke had similar runs in the 90s. The difference is that UK and Duke and North Carolina and UCLA have had these kind of up cycles more than once.

While I agree that recruits don't care much about history or tradition they do care about media exposure. And as this coaching search shows, as do the amount of games on national TV every year, it is hard to find a place that will get more coverage than Kentucky in college basketball. The others are listed above.

Yes you are. They second sentence could be debated.
