It is ridiculous to criticize Tubby Smith for the job he has done at UK. I think that some adjustments need to be made to bring higher level players in. I think that we can be more successful than we are being. However, blaming Tubby for all of this is a joke. All most of you are doing is showing your ignorance about college basketball. If Tubby is fired, he can pick the school he wants to go to. Every coach in America thinks Tubby is a wonderful coach, and they have forgotten more than we will ever know. Let's support our team and coach and not bash them. Go Cats!!!
March 18, 200719 yr If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas. UK is way down on those two guys list. Recruiting and signing is two different things. Who you sign is not what defines a good recruiter...It's how your signees play in your system when they get here that defines a good recruit. You don't know what you're talking about. Lucas and Patterson both have UK in their final three, and both have said they wanted to wait until after the season to see how things turn out. (ie, coaching changes). It is widely speculated that Lucas is down to UK and Maryland and is just waiting to make sure Tubby is still at UK before pulling the trigger. A good recruiter is bringing in top rated talent. A good coach is getting them to play in your system, and buy into your philosophies.

He even says this year was a success, even if they didn't win in the first round. As much as he's getting paid, a #8 seed wouldn't satisfy me if I was writing the checks.

Coaches that know the X's and O's are a dime a dozen, it's the ones that have the character to get the Jimmys and Joes that have the most success IMO. In all his years as a head coach, Tubby has never recruited a single player to play in the Final Four...And he's been the head coach at KY for a long time now. Tha just blows my mind.

March 18, 200719 yr They will have lost to a #1 Seed Kansas team, who is loaded with talent and size....Kansas will move on and no shame on my part. Plus the sun will rise, in Lexington. Hopefully, UK can sign players that will continually have them competing, in the field of 65. I also heard the comment, about 16 straight 1st round victories by UK....not bad. I prefer to see the positives about most things, rather than constantly dwell on the negatives and criticize a program....just me. :thumb: :thumb: Excelent post and observations.
