Final from the 1st Region Championship. A mild upset I would think.

A mild upset, yes ... Marshall had beaten Calloway three times during the season, but two of them were very close games. The Lady Lakers have been helped immensely by the addition of 6-0 Avree Fields, a talented and athletic eighth grader who can play inside or outside. She joined the varsity late in the regular season.

 

Kayla Cunningham, a 6-2 sophomore, carried Calloway to the win ... she had 26 points, 16 of them coming in the fourth quarter and two overtimes. She played that entire stretch with four fouls.

 

Calloway had a heck of a regional tournament run ... had the toughest draw of anyone and came from behind in the second half (twice by 12 or more points) to beat Graves County, Paducah Tilghman and Marshall, the other three top teams in the region. And they have only one senior on the roster.
