I don't believe that any maybes should be involved. Is he the best player in the state? I've seen Walls and Pettigrew play. I'm not taking anything away from Walls. He's a great player, but if you can only say that he may be the best player on his team, then he can't be Mr. Basketball.

Mr basketball is not the best PLAYER in the state, its the best SENIOR PLAYER in the state. In my opinion:

 

The best players in the state are a tie between Mackey, Walls, and Miller.

The best player on Scott County's team is a tie between Mackey and Walls.

Best senior in Kentucky. Walls. And yes I have seen Pettigrew play.

Ok now that Pettigrew and E-town have lost in the first round what does everyone think about Matt Walls for Mr. Basketball??

 

I disagree. Rex Chapman was named Mr. Basketball even though his team lost in the first round of the district tournament. I think he went on to do pretty well.:fight:

Just think if Scott Co. still had Haddix - there would be an argument who was the best player on the team with 3 names involved. I'd still pick Walls because of his leadership skills and his determination to "bring it" every time he steps on the floor.

The award isn't really about what the player "went on to do" - but about what kind of high school career he had.

 

I do think that if Matt can play well and lead his team deep into the tournament - that should carry some weight with those who vote.

 

I'm not putting down Pettigrew at all - or diminishing what he did this year. But Walls has done some great things too.

That's exactly what I am talking about as well. Steffphon is the leading scorer in the state and the #2 rebounder in the state. What else could you ask for from an indiviual player? Can you name a player in recent history that was at the top of list on both counts? He accomplished this while being double and triple teamed on every single outing. Steffphon is the best player in the state.:fight:

Regarding Mackey and Walls. Both are great but Mackey takes time off during the game, Walls is always there giving 100% all the time thus the comparison to Lofton. Mackey=Darius Miller, both are very talented (moretalented?) but don't play all the time like Walls and Lofton.
