If it is a concern though, take about 100,000 of the troops, ( especially the reserves) and put them on the northern and southern borders, scatter a few in the ports and spend some of the additional 200 Billion that we are about to spend in Iraq for high tech security to aid the border security. The only reason we are not leaving is because now that we have installed the Shiite government, Saudi Araba is in danger and will not let us leave and hold high oil prices over our heads. We better get moving on Bio Fules or we will be their slaves forever. We can't get any border security measures done (blame this on both sides) and you think this will ever happen??????

March 3, 200719 yr One of the biggest problems I've had with the war in Iraq has nothing to do with strategy, or reasons why we should or shouldn't have gone in; but with our level of preparedness. The mess with Walter Reed just proves to me that our military leadership, from the top down, failed to plan. If you fail to plan, plan to fail. A while back I posted a story told to me by a good friend who is part of the Reserve Training force, training those who drive the convoy trucks. Long story short- he indicated that there was so much he wasn't given to be able to do his job correctly, that the troops sent over would not be adequatley trained. Not all troops were given proper protection and armor, so they would resort to deception and theft to get it. This past week he told me that for at least the past year, certian bases and units have tweaked the Armys required combat fitness numbers, to include many troops that were not qualified, and those troops were sent to Iraq. Many of us have can understand why the troops should be in optimal physical condition, and how missions and lives could be jepordized if they weren't. Well, there are a number of troops that have been serving in Iraq that, by the military's standard, are not qualified to go, and should not have been sent. But the numbers have been fudged, and they are there none the less.
