You can't back out of the HDE-Les Bowl now. The winner gets a spot in the Fearless ratings and the loser must leave town forever.

 

Middlesboro is erratic, but Harlan has owned them for several years. I haven't seen Whitley.

Get it right. Checked the KHSAA scoreboard. Harlan has won the last five meetings and last 6 out of 8.

I like Conway very much and I hope he stays at North Laurel. If the people at the North Laurel and the Laurel County School Board do not retain him it will be a mistake. However, I don't think he has earned the title of a "great coach" yet. In my mind to be a "great coach" someone would need to build a program that is a consistant winner and consistant threat to win the region every year. I certainly think Conway has the potential to become a "great coach". Great coaches build programs not teams.

If Casey goes, who's in line for the job? I personally thought the Dragons should have hired John D. Wilson when he applied way back in 86 when Hicks left for Corbin.

So you think Evarts will be Harlan in the first round. I don't think there will be a change in the staff. He has not had an abundant of talent to work with in the first place. They are in better shape since he has taken over the program. They won 13 games total the two years before he got there. When he got there the cupboard was bare. They won 3,8,19,13 games the last 4 years. The likes of Charles Thomas, Todd Cox, and those guys are not walking through the doors of Harlan High School anymore.

I think in the short time that he's been at NL, he has been a "great coach". I think a great coach is one who can teach and motivate his kids to get the most out of their abilities, and to form them together to play as an effective team. He's not been there long enough to build a long term successful program, but imo, is well on his way to doing just that. Obviosuly our definition and mine are not the same.
