Well the 2026 season ended today with the Reds finishing 75-87 and in last place in the N.L. Central Division. There were only 3 teams in the National League who had worst records than the Reds. There are numerous changes that need to be made especially at the top of the organization. I am not holding my breath that these will occur. Go Reds!!

This is do or die for this front office group. They have zero excuses. 2 seasons ago, the Chicago White Sox lost more games than any team in history. This season, they are a playoff team. That should be the floor for the Reds.

Anything less is a failure and should result in Nick Krall and the entire front office being out of their jobs.

According to Matt Swatz of MLB Trade Rumors the Reds have 12 players eligible for arbitration:

Tejay Antone (5.145): $1.5MM

Nick Lodolo (5.000): $5.7MM

Graham Ashcraft (4.130): $2.2MM

Tony Santillan (4.099): $2.5MM

Spencer Steer (4.035): $5.7MM

JJ Bleday (4.013): $4.8MM

Matt McLain (3.140): $4MM

Brandon Williamson (3.139): $1.3MM

Andrew Abbott (3.119): $4.5MM

Elly De La Cruz (3.118): $7.9MM

Oswaldo Cabrera (3.069): $1.1MM

Dane Myers (3.037): $1.5MM

In my opinion I would only go to arbitration with:

Elly

Abbott

Bleday

Myers

McClain

The first 2 are great. Their idea of letting the top seed pick which Wild-card round winner they want to play is stupid and needs to be dropped. Just man up and play who's in front of you.

The last one needs to be dropped as well. Baseball always whines about not having a next generation of fan and it's because of stuff like this. The best games of the whole season and they want them all at night, where kids are less likely to be around when they end. Less 8:30 starts and more 4:15 games. Then kids are out of school and can either go to the park or watch on TV, have it be done by 6:30ish and then still have time to get school stuff done and chill before bed. So much better than an 8:30 start and the future fans are in bed by the 4th inning.

Here below is great link that is a perfect example of one of the many problems of the Reds front office. It is from SB Nation by Wick Terrell. The article is talking about 2 of the worst hitters in MLB and they are both on the Reds 26-man roster. I knew they were bad when it came to hitting but no idea it was as bad as the stats show.

Here is the link to the article:

One last chance for Matt McLain with the Cincinnati Reds
