The Penguins of Youngstown State travel south to Kroger Field to open the season for the Cats. The Penguins come into the game at 1-0 with a 43-10 win over Mercyhurst on August 27th. This will be the season opener for the Cats and new head coach Will Stein. The kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm and the game is only on SECN+. Go Cats!!

Cats defense starts their year off right as well with a 3 and out. The Penguins only managed 8 yards on their 3 plays.

Cats are 2-2 on the offensive drives this one on 7 plays and 60 yards and capped off again by Texas transfer CJ Baxter with a 5-yard run to make it now 14-0 Cats.

Early in the season but can safely say I hope Charlie Strong doesn't announce many more UK games.

Cats score again now 3-3 this a screen pass from Minchey to Skinner for 10 yards and a touchdown. It is now 21-0 Cats.

Cats lead 28-7 at the half and then they score again midway through the 3rd quarter this last score was 26 yard pass from Mitchey to Jean and now lead 35-7 with 8:00 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Youngstown State answers back on their drive the extra point is wide so with 3:40 left in the 3rd quarter it is now 35-13 Cats.

Cats score again this one on a 37 yard touchdown pass from Minchey to Darby the extra point is good and with 12:48 to play the Cats lead 42-13.
