2026 Mr. Football Watchlist (8/25)

Featured Replies

‼️ Week 1 Headlines ‼️

• An eager audience at WKU watched on as two titans of this race pushed each other to towering heights. One throwing daggers while the other made the field look smaller with every stride.

Carothers hit early, with a touchdown pass on the game's opening snap, en route to nearly 400 yards and three scoring tosses.

Driver hit late, landing knockout blows in the fourth quarter with speed rarely seen at his size. He finished with 138 rushing yards and two touchdowns on a mere three carries, complimented by 58 receiving yards.

In the end it was Seneca Driver's legs that won out for Boyle County, but Dre'Mail Carothers lost no ground in the chase for Mr. Football.

• Ja'Hyde Brown took a stroll through the Pikeville secondary to the tune of 180 yards and four touchdowns on eleven receptions….in just one half of play. The only thing slowing him down is the mercy of his own coach.

• The totality of Trinity's annihilation of nationally ranked Anderson (OH) is enough to mute any individual performance. Zane Johnson was modest, but sharp, throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown, plus two rushing touchdowns, including this beauty 👇 where he jukes the soul out of highly touted Notre Dame commit Ace Alston.

• Stat line of the week belongs to Timmy Emongo, who roasted Franklin County for nearly 300 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns on just ten touches. If you think the wing-t means three yards and a cloud of dust, you haven't watched this kid. By the time you see the cloud, he's already in another zip code.

Honorable Mentions

• Dakari Talbert drove the final nail in Highlands’ coffin with a long touchdown run, one of his three on the night to go with 156 yards.

• Kade Goodin got his campaign off on the right foot, piling up 391 yards of total offense and six combined touchdowns against Henry Clay.

• Max Johnson kicked the watchlist's front door in with nearly 400 yards of total offense and seven combined touchdowns (six passing) in a firefight with Murray.

Timmy Emongo is going to have a record year here at SC. He probably won’t keep pace to score 50 touchdowns & have a 3k yard season, but he is going to make it hard to not have his name in the finalist conversation.

Tre Shemwell. 2 INT’s (1 pick 6) and a reception touchdown against X deserves a look.

I keep a supplemental list of players that maybe don't have the profile to garner pre-season hype. Shemwel is on that list. I just need to see another game or two from him before I'm ready to give him a push.

He opened eyes the other night.

Holy Cross RB Charles Oglesby had 15 carries 143 yards 2 tds and 7 tackles on defense.
