2026-27 NFHS/KHSAA Football Online Rules Clinic

Featured Replies

Kudos to the KHSAA for releasing the rules clinic after both scrimmages and all of summer practice.. the day before the first game.

New change for the people interested in knee pads and mouthpieces. Here's the offenses for not having a mouth piece in or knee pads covering the knees (or any other uniform violation).

  1. Warning and player sent out for a play

  2. Delay of game and player sent out for a play

  3. Unsportsmanlike Conduct on Head Coach and player sent out for a play

  4. Second unsportsmanlike Conduct on Head Coach resulting in HC being thrown out, and player sent out for a play

"Officials are not the uniform police - mouthpieces and knee pads are required equipment and these are safety issues that need to be enforced."

How incompetent can the KHSAA be, this should have been released a month ago.

I agree but I still wonder how enforcement will go.

My thoughts exactly! Why not release during dead period?? You know before all the players get back.

I understand that Mr. T apologized profusely for the delay:

  1. Staff been working on new Scoreboard

  2. late updates and additions from NFHS - ON Rule changes and POE

I agree. But isn't consistency across the board a huge problem. It's my sense that statewide there is a wide vacuum in the level of Training, competence, etc. I understand that not too long ago there were Official(s) on a State Championship game who did not know what a Post-Scrimmage Kick foul was.

For sure on consistency and State Championship Officials have been an elephant in the room for years because it is not based on merit.

Either way, I am glad the KHSAA finally "put their foot down" on these two rules because not doing so has been a glaring integrity issue.
