Week 5 results and records updated in the previous post.

Beechwood 8th grade plays, at Tichenor tomorrow night, at 730p, in week six action. It's going to be nice playing a game where the temperature isn't 85+.

How was the game?

6/7 grade Beechwood dominated, both sides of the ball. While the 8th grade game was more competitive than the early game the 8th grade Tigers came out on top. They ran the ball well. More opportunit

Beechwood Tigers beat the Tichenor Trojans on cool, moist night in Erlanger. Beechwood's 8th grade team improved their record to 5-1 on the season.

BW took the opening drive for a TD on a perfect throw and catch for a 30-yd TD. Tichenor avoided an interception on the next drive and a few plays later scored on a rushing TD. The Trojans had one player that really stood out on both sides of the ball and he was fun to watch. BW scored on a short run in the Q2 to make the score 14-6. Tichenor drove the field but a goal line stand ended the drive right before half.

BW stopped Tichenor on the first possession of the second half, forcing a punt. The Tigers scored again on a 40-yd TD run up the middle making the score 20-6. The Trojans didn't score again. They struggled in the pass game all night and eventually the Tiger D line took over. BW finished the scoring late in the 4th with a big pass and run for 65-yds. The offense was balanced all night and looked great. Four TDs total (2 pass and 2 run) to four different players.

Final score was 28-6 and it was injury free for the most part, but by this time in the season (especially with a short bench) the wear and tear is starting to add up with a lot of bumps and bruises for multiple kids.

7th grade Tigers play Tichenor on 9/26 at 1p. The 8th grade Tigers play at Holmes on 9/30, at 730p. The 7th grade team will play at 6p against Holmes that same night

Beechwood's 7th grade took their first loss of the season in week 6 against Tichenor (13-7). They rebounded in a big way with a running clock win over Holmes last night. The Tigers over powered Holmes in all aspects of the game to the tune 37-0. The 7th grade Beechwood team's record is now 5-1. Tigers finish the regular season on Saturday against St Henry. 7th grade tournament play begins next week for them. I think I got the record right and tournament plan right, if anyone sees an error, please jump in and correct me.

Beechwood Tigers 8th grade team beat Holmes last night 22-20, in a very exciting game! That makes their record 6-1 on the season and I think I heard that it clinches a playoff spot for them, which begins in a couple of weeks. Maybe I mentioned this in a previous post but I want to share how proud I am for this group of boys. This is the same team that went 0-8 as 7th graders in this same league. They stayed positive, they kept working and training, and they didn't give up or quit. What a difference a year makes!

Beechwood vs Holmes recap:

BW takes the opening possession for a TD, after two nice pass plays. The drive finishes with a short TD run. 8-0 BW.

Holmes responds with a short pass and long run for a TD. 8-8 BW.

The Tigers score again off a drive dominated by running the football. 16-8 BW.

BW was stopped on the 1 foot line as time expired to end the half. I felt like they spiked it to stop the clock with 1-2 seconds left, but the officials did not agree. 16-8 was the halftime score.

Holmes gets the ball to start the second half. A long return sets up a successful drive. 16-14 BW. Extra 2-pt kick was blocked.

With 5 minutes left in Q4 Beechwood makes an INT that sets them up inside the 30-yd It was great play to hang onto it, as well as, showed a great coaching adjustment that put the player in the right spot.

BW establishes the run and completes a 2-min drive with a TD run. 22-14 BW.

Holmes doesn't quit. They break a long run for a TD. #4 for Holmes was a do it all athlete. Making plays at WR, RB, QB, and on defense. Probably the best individual skilled talent I have seen all season. 22-20. Holmes lines up for the extra 2-pt kick. Tigers burst through the line, right up the middle. Kick is blocked to preserve the BW lead.

BW grinds out a few first downs on the ground and runs out the last 3 minutes of the game. Final score Beechwood 8th grade 22 and Homes 8th grade 20.

Another team win for the Tigers. Line play on both sides of the ball has been great all year and was again last night. Skilled guys keep stepping up and making a play when needed. They are not the biggest or strongest or fastest team in the league. But they play hard and for each other every single play. Very coachable group that just keeps grinding and improving.

No major injuries but the length of the season and short bench has several kids playing at less than 100%.

That 7th grade score was listed incorrectly on the NKMSAA site. Beechwood won the game against Tichenor 45-13.

That's a big difference! 7th grade Tigers are undefeated at 6-0. Thanks for the correction.

The 8th grade Beechwood Tigers travel to play the 8th grade St Henry Crusaders at 2p on Saturday. Should be an exciting game with the possible number 1 seed for the post season tournament on the line. I know the Cru were a perfect 6-0, but I haven't seen the final score for the most recent matchup against Tichenor (but I fully believe they won which would make them 7-0). The Tigers are 6-1 and I think this matchup will prove to be the biggest challenge to date for them. Looking forward to a great injury free game.

Beechwood 7th grade beat St Henry 7th grade 16-12 to finish the regular season undefeated. It was a super competitive and hard hitting game. Beechwood will begin post season play next week.

Beechwood 8th grade got beat by St Henry 8th grade, 52-14. St Henry is the best team the Tigers have faced this year. While the score is misleading St Henry was in control from the beginning. Game flipped at halftime. About 3-minutes before half St Henry was leading 22-14. Several questionable calls and favorable clock operator helped St Henry take 30-14 lead to halftime. BW was never recovered and SH scored after the half, which basically killed any fight left in the Tigers. I am not sure if the Tigers can beat St Henry, but I hope they get another chance in tournament play.

St Henry remains undefeated and Beechwood falls to 6-2. The Tigers will wrap up the regular season next Saturday at Walton Verona.

Full week of practice will do BW well and allow a few nagging aches and pains to heal up.

Beechwood 7th grade beat Grant County in a running clock blowout this week to advance to the semifinals.

The 8th grade Beechwood Tigers play their last game of the regular season today at Walton Verona. Kickoff is set for 1230p.

Scores haven’t all been updated but hopefully next week, I can share the regular season final records before post season play begins for the 8th graders.

Great regular season for the 8th grade Beechwood Tigers. They wrapped up the season with a big win today over Walton Verona to finish the regular season at 7-2.

BW took the opening possession to the one foot line before fumbling away the ball. WV gave the gift back on the next possession by throwing a pick six. BW added a second score on a drive that was all about the run. WV hung around and made several splash plays on a 98-yd drive that ended in a TD.

Second half started with BW leading WV 16-6. BW held WV on the first possession. BW scored there third TD on a 15-yd screen pass. Late in Q3 BW recovered a fumble and scored their last TD a few plays later rushing the ball.

WV would score one more time, late in Q4. The final score was 32-14, Beechwood.

No major injures; just the usual aches and pains.

Next Saturday the 8th grade playoffs will begin. I will post later in the week to wrap up the regular season and preview the playoffs.

Several missing scores, so it’s hard to provide an exact records/standings.

I do know that in the 8th grade Medium School Division, St Henry finished with a perfect 9-0 record and will be the 1 seed vs Walton Verona. Beechwood finished with a 7-2 record and will be the 3 seed vs NCC.

I am attaching all tournament matchups and will try to provide short preview for the 8th grade Medium School Division games later in the week.
