7th Region: Week 11

? Headlines ?
⤴️⤵️? | At this point, I don't know up from down in this region… and that's a good thing. A previously unseen parity has revealed itself.

St. X returned a loaded roster from a team that swept the region from start to finish last season, presenting themselves as the #1 team, both locally and statewide. But this version of the Tigers has lost three games inside the 7th.

The latest setback came at the hands of CAL, who erased a seventeen point deficit in the third quarter before Jayden Washington sank a game winning free throw in the final moments.

The Centurions were unable to extend their momentum beyond the X comeback, falling to Eastern a few nights later, further expanding the scope of contenders.

Eastern now has wins over CAL and Male, as well as Seneca, who also owns a win over Male and took #1 Ballard to overtime last week.

As for the top ranked Bruins, the OT survival against Seneca sealed a 3-0 week that also included a six point win over Trinity. Cole Edelen led the victors with a season best 31, while Jayden Johnson posted a game high 35 in a battle between superstars that fled Louisville for the prep school route over the off-season. In defeat, the Shamrocks are still trending up, and have forced their way back to the fringes of contention.

The increasingly tangled web of results points toward one of the more unpredictable 7th Region postseasons in recent memory, with several teams capable of cutting down the nets.

? | We'd be remiss without acknowledging the hottest team in the region…. Manual has won eight in a row and eleven of twelve with the lone loss a one point defeat to Ballard. The Crimsons rolled through a 3-0 week, highlighted by a 23 point waxing of North Hardin, a Top 25 team according to at least one media outlet and a top 5th Region contender. The only blemish on Manual's week was Ahmad Shelton's streak of 20 consecutive games with 10+ rebounds coming to an end against Shawnee.

I still like St. X.

Me too. Despite the losses, they still have the highest ceiling.

Huge week for Manual: X, Seneca, then Male to close the regular season.

By far their toughest stretch of games in a while.

Flip a coin for this Region.

One of Eastern/CAL not even going to make the tourney.
