Future Basketball Realignment

Featured Replies

Will there be any realignment in the next couple years with the changes happening in western Kentucky? I know Providence is consolidating with Webster County, which will make a three team district, something the KHSAA wants to avoid. There are only 16 teams in the second region now, which would make it impossible to move within the region; someone may have to come from outside.

Also, with the inability of Christian Fellowship to field a team in the first region, will one of the Paducah District (District 2) teams or St. Mary be moved into the 4th District to play with Calloway, Marshall and Murray? Just curious.

Community Christian found out a week or so ago that they are moving to the 4th District to put each district at four teams. CCA is located between Paducah and Mayfield and is a bit of a stretch geographically, but the KHSAA is determined to keep at least four teams in each district.

I'm not sure if there is a plan in place yet to deal with Providence's closing.

Does Tollesboro Christian still have a team?

Future consolidation was supposed to be considered during the last alignment.

I think it was with regards to the impending consolidation of the Harlan County schools. They are currently playing in a six-team district that will shrink to four with the consolidation.

They didn't account for Providence, which plays in a four-team district now and will be reduced to three with its closing.
