RPI 3A East

Featured Replies

I was just curious on how everyone else thinks how the RPI in the East will shake out. Do you think Lloyd can get any higher or drop lower? What are your thoughts? How about it@Honey Badger talk to me Bandit.

I don't see them going any lower unless they somehow lose one of their last two games.  I don't really think that's possible.  I don't think Lawrence County jumps them either if they both win out.  They could possibly go up depending on the outcome of the Bell County vs. Pulaski County game the last week of the season.  I think they're either the 1 or 2 seed in the east depending on the outcome of the Bell County vs. Pulaski County game.

This RPI stuff is out of my league. Where do they sit right now?

4th overall, but 2nd in the East.  They are .1 ahead of Lawrence County and .008 behind Bell County in the east.  It's a long way down to Bourbon County in 4th (about .075 behind Lloyd).

Yes, I was just hoping to stay high enough to at least have three home games if we keep winning. And I think there’s a possibility we could have four games at home if the RPI gets to where I hope and also if we keep winning.

Fourth, overall display the best of the best

So what does their road through the playoffs look like if they get #2 in the East versus #1 in the East?

Top 4 in the class but 2nd in the east? What is the deciding factor in RPI that sets 1 and 2 apart?

Reminder, the RPI for each school is set and frozen after Week 11. RPI does not change during the playoffs.

In Round 3, east region teams face east region teams and west region teams face west region teams. The two highest RPI teams in each region host Round 3 games

In Round 4 (state semis) the remaining 4 teams are stacked 1 thru 4 based on their season ending RPI (after week 11). In Round 4 west region or east region are not relevant.  Whichever are the 2 highest RPI teams remaining host the semifinal games. This is true in all 6 classes.

So basically if 1 and 2 in the east win out from here on #2 in the east will be traveling to play at #1 in round 3.

What's the biggest factor of Bell being #1 and Lloyd being #2?

No.  Round 3 is 1v4, and 2v3 in both East and West Regions. 1 and 2 will be home.

For semis: the remaining teams will be reseeded 1-4 according to RPI.

If nothing changed, then their path would look something like this:

Round 1 - vs. Bath County

Round 2 - vs. Russell / East Carter regular season loser (2nd seed in District 6)

Round 3 - vs. Lawrence County

Round 4 - at CAL

If Bell County loses to Pulaski County at the end of the year, it could put them at 1 and it would look something like this:

Rounds 1 & 2 are the same

Round 3 - vs. Bourbon County

Round 4 - at Murray or at Bell County or they could possibly host one of those 2 teams.

Round 5 (championship) - CAL

No, top two in the east would not play until at least round 4. Very likely if it is Bell and Lloyd at that point, they still may not play each other. It all depends on who is left. It resets every round beginning in the 3rd round.
